Newcastle’s famous Grainger Market has just had a glow up, so let’s go and explore it together! 👀

The new renovations at include new automatic doors as well as a fresh paint job and floor tiling at the entrances. But the main changes are in the hall area of the market, with new pavilion seating areas that will eventually also be home to some new vendors. One of the highlights of the market is of course the beautiful glass ceiling, which the new seating gives us an opportunity to enjoy.

I grabbed a coffee from and had to show you the amazing cakes at too! Also if you haven’t ever visiting , they are perfect for both vintage and more modern jewellery and jewellery repairs.

I think there’s still a few small things to come (perhaps new flooring and toilets?) but I think this is a lovely opportunity to enjoy Newcastle’s historical market and make the most of the fantastic local businesses located in there! 😊

✨ 38 for 38 ✨

Across 2026 I’m celebrating turning 38, the age my mam was when she passed away from cancer.

I’m going to get over my fear of turning 38 by doing 38 new things that mam would have loved to have experienced.

Number six: Riding the Shields ferry for the first time! 😂

This is a bit of a random one, but what’s life without a random sidequest?!

I took the ferry from South Shields to North Shields and the whole journey only took about 10 minutes. I’d already purchased an all zones day ticket for the Metro (£7), as I was travelling around the North East on a completely different sidequest that day, so the cost of my journey was included in the day ticket price. ⛴️

I got super lucky with the weather so the trip felt like a little holiday. Highly recommend if you want a super cheap way of feeling like you’re on a mini cruise. Views of both South Shields and North Shields were immaculate! 😂

Give me a follow to find out what number three in the 38 in 38 series will be (even I don’t know yet).

Ad - If you’re looking for delicious fine dining that won’t break the bank then ’s new set menu is the perfect option! 🍽️

Located in Durham city centre, just a stones throw away from Framwellgate Bridge, Faru is an ideal option for a special occasion, date night or if you want to treat yourself to food that feels like a work of art made by some of the most talented chefs in the region.

Their new set menu is currently priced at £32 for 2 courses, or £35 for 3 courses. I personally would pay £35 just for the pecan parfait - it was THAT good! 😋

I think this is the perfect restaurant for a date night in Durham as we had a gorgeous time, and the staff were so lovely!

Looking for a quirky lunch in Northumberland?

Did you know that has a cafe inside their beautiful bookshop? 📖

The Station Buffet is situated inside Barter Books, which used to be Alnwick’s train station. 🚂

The cafe offers home cooked style classic comfort food, from full English breakfasts to burgers. We went for the cheese toastie and the hot beef sandwich. Both yummy!

And if you’re a book lover, you’re sure to find something along the thousands of second hand books here to take home, too!

We were driving through Northumberland and spotted a cute little coffee cart just off the road on a local farm.

It turned out to be The Lazy Cow and we got the perfect day to visit!

A lovely little spot for a nice coffee, cake, and some dog friendly treats! 🐶

You can find The Lazy Cow on the coast at Annstead Farm in Beadnell, just a five minute drive between Bamburgh and Seahouses. 🌊

Check their opening times as they can be weather dependent.
