Nine Americans have been rescued from the devastating Nepal floods, but eighty-five are still missing. The disaster struck on August twenty-sixth when a glacial collapse triggered a massive wall of water and debris along the Nepal-Tibet border, swallowing entire villages.

U.S. officials say more than three thousand people remain unaccounted for. Many of the missing Americans were part of a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash, which is sacred to Hindus and Buddhists.

The State Department has activated three-point-six million dollars in emergency aid to provide food assistance to ten thousand families. Officials say their embassies in Nepal and China are working around the clock to assist American citizens.

A veteran prosecutor in New York Attorney General Letitia James' office claims he was ordered to target people affiliated with Donald Trump. Daniel Wiesenfeld made the allegation in a leaked email, saying his boss instructed him to go after Trump, Truth Social, and Hewlett Packard without a credible reason.

Wiesenfeld wrote that if people find it troubling that Trump is using the Justice Department to prosecute his enemies, they should find it equally troubling that James is doing the same thing. He urged colleagues not to serve as James' personal attorneys by targeting her political enemies.

He was placed on paid administrative leave. The attorney general's office says it strongly rejects any assertion of political targeting. The state Republican chairman called James a political hit squad.

James has been a longtime adversary of Trump, securing a 360-million-dollar civil fraud judgment against him in 2024.

King Harald V of Norway has died at the age of 89, according to the Royal Palace in Oslo.

The palace said the monarch died peacefully at 6:35 a.m. local time on Friday at Oslo University Hospital Rikshospitalet.

His death came after he was hospitalized the previous week with a rare blood condition.

Harald, who became king in 1991, is succeeded by his only son, Crown Prince Haakon.

He is survived by his wife of more than five decades, Queen Sonja, their daughter Märtha Louise, his elder sister Princess Astrid, grandchildren and other members of the Norwegian royal family.

Paschal Ekeji never played football until seven years ago. He grew up in South Africa playing rugby and had never even watched American football until a friend introduced him to the Madden video game. Now, at 25, he's on the cusp of an NFL career as an outside linebacker with the New York Jets.

His journey is remarkable. The Jets signed him to their practice squad last November. When he arrived, he weighed 228 pounds. Coach Aaron Glenn told him he needed to add weight. Ekeji took it to heart, staying in New Jersey all offseason and returning at 245 pounds.

This summer has been a blur of firsts. The Jets' preseason opener was the first football game of his life. He will face the Giants this week and could share the field with Odell Beckham Jr., one of his original inspirations.

A Nebraska police captain has been placed on leave after allegedly leaving her two-year-old child locked inside a car in warm weather while she went fishing. Captain Mayde McGuire and her partner were at Pawnee Lake in Lincoln when bystanders spotted the distressed toddler trapped in the vehicle. The child had been left alone for at least twenty-eight minutes.

McGuire, who registered a blood alcohol content of point one zero eight, and her partner, Mary Tobiassen, each face a misdemeanor child abuse charge. The child was not hurt. McGuire has been placed on administrative leave from the Lincoln Police Department.

The sheriff warned that even on a seventy-eight-degree day, the inside of a car can quickly become dangerous for a small child.
