When a department struggles to hire, it’s rarely a “reach problem.” It’s usually a clarity problem.
Galveston County Sheriff’s Office had openings in a few divisions. The interest was there, but candidates didn’t really understand what the work looked like or the opportunities inside the department.
So we focused on one question:
“What would someone need to see to picture themselves working here?”
A high-impact recruitment video became the answer.
We highlighted their teams, the different paths inside the department, and the day-to-day reality of the work. Nothing scripted. Nothing flashy. Just a clear picture of what it feels like to be part of their organization.
The department shared the video consistently. Within a few weeks, every open position was filled.
Here’s the takeaway:
People don’t respond to job descriptions.
They respond to stories they can see themselves in.
If your organization is trying to hire—or explain what you do—sometimes the simplest fix is helping people picture themselves in the picture.
