Iโ€™ve lived, loved, learned, and now Iโ€™m stepping into 50 with clarity, power, and grace. You should all know by now that I don't post much in real time. I'm about being present and somewhere within time, I share my moments.

I celebrated my 50th birthday with the one I love, and barrels of joy in my heart. Oh, and those sparkler things are cool! ๐Ÿ˜†

I promised a part two, and we're doing it! Anthony Roland () is back, and we're exploring the power of mentorship and the discipline of showing up for your craft. Anthony is a seasoned photographer whose journey offers insight not just for fellow image-makers, but for creatives, freelancers, and small business owners across industries.

Anthony and I talk about what it means to practice with intention, how mentorship can shape your creative identity, and why consistency (not perfection, which doesn't exist) is the real game-changer. Whether you're behind a camera, building a brand, or crafting your next offer, this conversation is a reminder that mastery is a daily choice.

Before the thumbnails, before the final edit, thereโ€™s the prep. This BTS short shows how I bring my Dooney & Bourke collection to life: collecting each bag, adding stuffing for structure, arranging the layout, and setting the scene for video and photography.

Hear me clearly: a 30-second video requires more than 30 seconds to create. Trust and believe! This is work, people. This is a labor of love.

Itโ€™s not just content. This is work. This is a project. Every bag holds a story, and every shot honors that legacy.

Today's topic is quite close to my bare-faced heart: beauty. Yeah, we're going there (again). I'm navigating the world of beauty and how you define it. It's not just about lipstick, lashes, or even the absence of them. It's about you: your choices, your comfort, and your amazing self (link to the article in the comments and bio).

'Tis the season to bring the reminders to the forefront. This season, let's tell the truth: rest isn't a reward for productivity. It's a requirement for clarity. It's time to reframe boundaries as a form of gratitude for your time, your energy, and your future self. It's a blessing to say "No."

You don't have to earn your exhale. You don't have to prove your worth through exhaustion. You don't have to carry every tradition, every expectation, every "should" on your back. As one person said, "You shouldn't go shoulding on people."

This week, as we prepare for the holiday season and beyond, ask yourself:
โœจWhat can I release to reclaim my peace?
โœจWhat would it look like to prioritize rest like I prioritize results?
โœจWho am I when I'm not performing, producing, or pleasing?

Let this be the week you choose softness over striving. Let your boundaries be a love letter to your future self. And for those who want to write a few words down, here's a journal prompt: What have I said yes to that I didn't mean?

A little BTS from my styling session for 50 Years of Dooney & Bourke. I used my own pieces to build the layflats for thumbnails because real stories deserve real items. Think about it...why not use what we actually use in a photo? Makes sense to me.

And yes, thatโ€™s my old Palm Treo making a cameo. I used to send emails from the subway on that thing. Turns out, itโ€™s the exact size of a Dooney coin purse. Can you believe it? I am still shocked by just how small these devices were and how much work I completed on them. Fun fact: I used this phone until the headphone went out. I had to use a headphone to answer and make calls, and when that stopped working...I upgraded to a BlackBerry.

Tech was tiny. Style was timeless. And this video? A love letter to both.

๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ BREAKING: Local Woman Goes Full Sherlock Over Candy Corn Crisis ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ๐ŸŽƒ

Every fall, I embark on my sacred pilgrimage: the Great Candy Corn Hunt. It's not just a snack, good people. Candy Corn and the Autumn mix is a lifestyle. A crunchy, tri-colored beacon of joy. But this year? My local store betrayed me. No candy corn. Not even a whisper of waxy goodness.

So I did what any genius (read: candy corn lover) would do: I put on my trench coat, grabbed my flashlight, and interrogated every seasonal aisle from here to the next zip code. I may or may not have threatened a pumpkin with emotional damage.

To the haters of Candy Corn (I'm looking at you Adrian): I see your judgment. I raise you a mouthful of sugary nostalgia and a smug grin. Candy corn is for the brilliant, the bold, and the brave. And yes, I found it. Eventually. In a gas station. Next to a suspiciously dusty skeleton figurine. No, I didn't. I had to drive to another Kroger location, but I got my candy corn!

Happy Halloween to my fellow candy corn connoisseurs. May your bags be full and your taste buds unbothered. ๐Ÿงก๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿค

The year is seeing an end, but I'm still on cloud nine. Can we chat about an unforgettable night at Love As Praxis? This was a celebration of art, truth, and radical community care curated by Josie Pickens and Terrel Swinton at Houston's historic El Dorado Ballroom.

I showed up to serve...literally. First of all, I'm a wine lover. Second, I'm always down to help my friends. Lastly, I love wine (wait, did I already say that?). Wine, water, and warmth at the table. When the moment calls, trust this wine connoisseur in training to answer.

The art was stunning (I bought a piece), the energy was electric, and the love was real. If you ever get the chance to attend any event hosted by Josie or Terrell, don't hesitate. This is what praxis looks like.

As a volunteer photog for a food bank, it angers me deeply that people, including our congress persons, have the audacity to say that people receiving food assistance need to get a job. They already have a job. Some of them have two jobs.

Food insecurity is a major issue in America, and this isn't a "holiday" thing. This a year round issue that we refuse to acknowledge until it's the holidays. Hear me clearly: there are far too many working families who cannot put food on their table. Until we get a living wage in this country and combat a few other issues, this will only get worse. And no $17/hour is not a living wage. Full stop.

If you have no idea what the f**k you're talking about, stop f**king talking.

A little mind-bending magic in Austin ๐ŸŒ€โœจ

I spent the afternoon at the Museum of Illusions in Austin some time ago. Let me tell you, it was so worth it. From gravity-defying rooms to optical tricks that had me questioning reality, every moment was pure fun.

If youโ€™re in Austin and need a dose of wonder, go check it out. Your inner child will thank you.

This week's movement is all about balance and power. I'm flowing through Pilates to stay centered, and hitting 5-mile runs (6 if I'm feeling froggy) every other day to clear my mind and build endurance. It's not just a workout. This is my rhythm that keeps me grounded, strong, and creatively charged. Time in nature gives me space to dream, reflect, and be grateful for all my functioning body parts.

If you're building a routine that honors your body and your boundaries, this one's for you. ๐Ÿ’ฌ Drop a comment with your favorite way to move this week.

New habits and new resolutions don't start in the new year. The commitment to this change begins today. I would be a liar if I didn't say the majority of these messages come from a personal space. I'm thigh-high in my cleaning era, and that cleaning includes every single space of my life. After almost 20 years of social media, I'm kinda over it. Okay, I'm over it. It's time to unfollow to unfold (love how I included that reference? ๐Ÿ˜†)

I have returned to dedicating time to genuine human connections and non-transcational conversations. My calendar isn't fully booked, and my focus isn't about being busy just to be busy. Unfollowing isn't rejection. It's the complete opposite. It's redirection.

Sooooo...here's the Monday Message challenge of the week: unfollow what no longer reflects your next chapter. This isn't an online-only exercise, although we could all benefit from cleaning up our digital presence. This is about all of your habits. This is about your calendar, your self-talk, the social circles you actively engage in (so pluck the ones where you're a wallflower). Let your spaces reflect who you're becoming. We're not concerned about who you've outgrown.

What's one thing you're ready to unfollow so your next self can unfold fully in the coming year?
