Society tells us that success is an accumulation of titles and physical possessions. But here's the truth I've learned: Success isn't about keeping up with everyone else's scoreboard. Success is how WE define it. We're living our own lives, running our own races at our own pace. And that's all that matters. Your journey. Your timeline. Your definition of what it means to thrive. That's real success.

Hey ladies, it's time to break free from the savior complex. We've always been expected to save the day, juggling everyone else's needs before our own. Trust me, I've been there, but it's a new day. Let it burn means setting healthy boundaries and reclaiming our power. Here are 5 tips to help you let it burn.

There is power in community conversations. We tackled everything from self-worth to the realities of abuse in relationships, shining a spotlight on the unique challenges Black women face in our justice system and society. We heard honest stories about resilience, the dangers of staying silent, and the importance of community and accountability.

Whether it’s business, life, or love—remember, relationships matter, the words we use have power, and we all deserve the space to heal and thrive. Find your tribe, build each other up, and never stop fighting for your value. Stay inspired and keep pushing forward—together, we can drive real change.

We're moving with more intentionality from this point on. I've said this a 1000 times, and I will continue to say it: word choice matters. Black women are not "strong". We're not in our "soft era", which gives the idea that this demand to be seen and cared for is temporary. This is how we're living.

Let's talk about roots. Who are you without the hustle?

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵: I've always been the soapbox person - the one who listens, nurtures, and stands up for what's right. That foundation of standing alone when necessary? It wasn't just building character. It was building the courage to live authentically, both personally and professionally. They're not separate journeys - they're the same path.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Here's what I've learned: The moment you try to separate your "professional self" from your "personal self," you start fracturing your power. Your gifts, your voice, your way of seeing the world - they don't belong in separate boxes. They belong integrated, whole, and unapologetically you.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲: The world keeps telling us to "niche down" - to make ourselves smaller, more palatable, easier to categorize. But what if the good Lord is calling you to expand? What if your calling isn't to fit into someone else's neat little box, but to walk in faith and be the awe-inspiring person you were created to be?

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝗲: As Black women, we've been asked to shrink ourselves to make others comfortable for far too long. Dim your light. Tone down your passion. Don't be "too much." But here's the truth: You weren't created to be comfortable for others. You were designed to be magnificent - all of you, all your gifts, all at once.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲: If you're courageous enough to open the door to your authentic self, everything changes. Your business becomes an extension of your values. Your creativity becomes your superpower. Your voice becomes the permission others need to stop shrinking, too. This is your invitation to expand, not contract.

So, tell me what keeps you grounded?

Okay, children, it's month seven. If things are not where you want them to be, now is the time to realign.

If the direction isn't right, change it. Don't wait for the perfect moment—create the shift. This year isn't over, and neither is your opportunity to rewrite the story. Adjust the rhythm. Rethink the path. Reclaim your energy. Lawd knows I'm doing a little work for myself, so come on and join me. 😄

Because momentum without alignment is just motion without meaning. Give yourself permission to pivot. Here's your Monday Message challenge: Take one hour today to reassess. One choice. One change. One better direction.

Ya'll, I'm dancing not only because it's good for the heart, but it's therapy for my soul. If there is anything that lifts my spirits, puts a smile on my face, and makes me sweat, it's dancing. This is a therapy I believe everyone should add to their menu. Just dance.

The life of the freelancer. This is real life, ya'll. Sometimes things are put away and sometimes I'm waking up to dirty dishes in the sink. And it's okay.

Look, life be life-ing at times. I don't recall any manuals on how to live life saying that we're supposed to be on 100 at all times. Not gonna happen.

Since I was a little girl, a camera has been my constant companion, capturing the essence of life from family gatherings to serene landscapes. Little did I know then that this innocent hobby would evolve into my life's calling.

When I moved to Arlington in 2009, underemployed and in need of extra cash, my camera became my lifeline. With time, I knew it would be my next career. But here's the truth nobody talks about: the biggest challenge wasn't gaining the technical skills to become a certified professional photographer. It was knowing in my heart that I was a professional and walking in that truth.

Leaving behind a 25-year career in retail, where I nurtured careers and organized others, was a daunting leap. But the allure of managing my photography business full-time was irresistible. I missed the vibrant energy of retail and the thrill of connecting with people. So, I decided to take my passion to an international platform by creating two podcasts: "Guuuuurl...Listen" and "Small Biz Bites." The skills I honed over the years, understanding lighting and scheduling, became my secret weapons. The countless hours spent in front of the camera creating training videos naturally led to the microphone.

In 2024, I added "host a TV show" to my aspirations list. I spoke about it whenever possible because here's what I know to be true: at the moment of commitment, the universe conspires to assist you. Before I knew it, I was creating my first indie TV show, "Ladies Listen Up!" for the IndieSoup Media Network. Then I pitched bringing my love for wine and spirits to life on screen as well.

The thread connecting it all? My purpose has always been to create safe, supportive communities where we can be authentically ourselves. We're all creative beings, and what better way to honor that than through storytelling—whether through vivid imagery or compelling video? I've always been a creative. Now, I finally have the time to share all of my gems.

To every woman reading this who's hesitating to unleash her gifts: Your camera, your voice, your vision—they're not just hobbies. They're your unique pathways to purpose. Embrace your creativity, trust the journey, and walk in your truth. The universe is conspiring to assist you, too.

Ladies, may I suggest we get 100 about our bodies? It's crucial to love the body you're in, set realistic health goals, and seek professional guidance instead of chasing unattainable ideals. We are not one-size-fits-all all. Trying to get the body of someone else is beyond ridiculous. And I'm not even gonna talk about trying to be your 19-year-old body at 55. Here are 5 more tips for body positivity.
