This unique 1" Ampex-Nagra machine came out in 1983 and cost $45,000 ($118,800 in today's $$'s). It didn't last very long, since Sony concurrently rolled out the professional Betacam format that used a 1/2" video cassette, which was phenomenally more user-friendly and practical. RIP Tommy Lasorda, passed at 93. I spent a day working with him a number of years ago on a Satellite Media Tour. He was delightful to work with- great sense of humor!

Back in the editing room, logging archival footage provided by the client and making recommendations. In the process of scheduling drone shoots, helicopter shoots, interviews, B-roll, scriptwriting, and all that goes along with a major production. Things are gearing up! In the meantime, we've spent a month endearing with our wonderful adopted pup Chloe!

Things are coming back! Today, I spent the afternoon at the home of a 2-time Grammy Award winner shooting a great interview and a piano /vocal performance for broadcast later in June. It is such a privilege to do what I do, and I make sure that every minute that I'm working, I live up to the highest creative and technical standards that I can achieve!

Video production in the COVID-19 / quarantine / distancing environment.
With an abundance of caution, I have been able to fulfill my clients’ timely and essential corporate communications needs. Mask, gloves, spray bottle of alcohol, taking my temperature, and distancing (which includes using a boom mic to avoid the close contact required of a lavalier) provide a safe production environment.
Since I have experience in all production roles, I can do a limited production as a one-person-band, allowing extra time for setup. Limiting my ‘crew’ to one- further reduces any potential exposure. This does not apply to fast-paced, run-and-gun shoots, unless additional crew members can be added. Media is listed as an Essential Service, since it is important for my clients to keep their work-at-home staff up-to-date with content on their websites, Zoom meetings, and social media postings.
I have not traveled outside of the Houston area so far this year, and have not been near anyone who has been ill with any type of malady.

Here's a 4-minute montage I shot on our Colorado trip in 2017 on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. It's an historic 64-mile steam train trip through the mountains between Chama, New Mexico and Antonito, Colorado. Built in 1881 as the westward branch of the Denver & Rio Grande RR, it is one of two remaining segments of this legendary line (the other being the Durango & Silverton).
