One year ago today, Charlie Kirk was assassinated.

I’ve thought a lot over the last year about the response that followed.

For weeks, I saw Isaiah 6:8 everywhere...

Here am I. Send me.

People were fired up.

People were convicted.

People were talking about courage, truth, faith, and what it means to actually stand for something.

A year later, I still wonder where some of that fervor went.

But I’ve also been thinking about something else.

Charlie was a great example, I believe, of what it looks like to be both salt and light while still being deeply involved in politics.

That balance is harder than people like to admit.

Politics can consume you.

I know because I’ve allowed it to happen to me before.

It can become more of your identity than your faith.

It can consume your attention and your emotional energy.

And when that happens, something is out of order.

There’s nothing wrong with being deeply involved politically when that involvement flows from your faith and your convictions.

In fact, I think Christians should be engaged.

But the order matters.

Christ has to remain the root.

Charlie understood that.

He fought hard for what he believed. He didn’t shy away from political battles. He spoke plainly about truth.

But he also made it very clear that if there was one thing he wanted to be remembered for, it was his faith.

That says a lot.

The challenge for those of us who are politically engaged is not to become less engaged.

It’s to make sure politics never becomes the thing that defines us.

To stand for truth without losing sight of grace.

To be both salt AND light.

And a year later, I think that may be one of the most important parts of Charlie’s legacy.

Post Tally-Bill legislation and law, I feel I have a fire in me that I can't shake. Our nation has been plagued with evil and I feel the only way to make it even a "little bit" better is to run for public office. I sincerely and genuinely don't want to run for any major public office, but with the kiddos all being grown up and this feeling I have to create a better nation is on my mind. I wish I didn't feel this way but I do. Politics is a dirty and extremely messy game and it should never be. We need people that truly care and give a damn about life, community and country. If not me than who? Some polished and groomed individual that will be a "go along to get along" guy. Who knows. All I know is I'm extremely proud of what I did and accomplished on the hill but God help us.

Now that everyone has gone off to bed I thought I'd post my feelings...Lindsay Clancy has a fan base that is demonic as anything I've ever seen to include her disgusting lawyer. Anyone that supports this woman is the devil. Love your babies and always keep them close. 🙏❤️
