Great news for grade school filmmakers of Southeast Texas! Lamar University's College of Fine Arts & Communication will be awarding scholarships to the winners of the next Spindletop Storytellers student competition. Winners will also be recognized during the Boomtown Film & Music Festival, where their films will be screened. 🎬✨ The 48-Hour Film Sprint is officially underway! ✨🎬

Think you’ve got what it takes to make a short film in just 48 hours? You can still jump in at any time—it’s completely FREE to compete! All finished films will premiere at the upcoming Lake Charles Film Festival.

We’ve teamed up with the Brimstone Historical Society and their Chaos Theory exhibit at the Henning Cultural Center to help inspire this year’s pop culture future theme. 🚀
This year’s required elements are:
1️⃣ A character named “The Omega Man”
2️⃣ A prop: Metallic Headgear (think space helmet, tin foil hat, etc.)
3️⃣ A line of dialogue: “The future has not been written. There is no fate but what we make for ourselves.”

📅 Deadline: Sunday, September 21st at 7PM
🎥 Rules:

Your film can be any length up to 10 minutes

Must include a title and end credits

Must use all three required elements

***Once completed, upload to YouTube and email the link to: [email protected] *** Must meet the deadline!

Please do not post your film publicly or share the link with anyone else—we want the Lake Charles Film Festival to host the premiere!
