This Re*****on 11-87 decided to spit out the extractor, spring and plunger. The shooter managed to find the extractor and spring. But the plunger is laying in the field someplace. Barrel gas seal is also damaged. While waiting on parts to come in, the gun went thru a much-needed cleaning. Note the before and after cleaning to remove the burnt powder residue on the magazine tube. This powder residue buildup is typical of a semi-automatic that has not had a good cleaning in years.

To all viewers! I want to emphasize that you must know what is the caliber of your firearm and be certain that you use the the correct ammunition. This Browning BL22 was brought to me because it was "jammed". Why was it jammed? Because the wrong ammo was loaded into the magazine! The shell on the left is what jammed the rifle. The shell on the right is the correct ammo for this gun. Please be careful. Using the wrong ammo could cause body injury to the shooter and damage to the gun.

And the cleaning continues! Last week was mostly long guns. This week it's handguns. Nice assortment of Sig's, Kimber's, R***r's, Smith's and Springfield's. Even a H&R revolver is in the mix.

Today is cleaning day. Doing a deep dive into a Re*****on 870 12 gauge. Just completed an Excel .410 single shot. Nice old beginners gun made sometime between 1910 - 1935..... After this I have a couple of more cleanings, a couple of rifle/scopes to bore sight and a transfer gun coming in this afternoon.

Finished this guy today. Re*****on 742 semi-automatic .243 caliber. Came in with the action locked up because it dropped a bolt latch pivot pin. After replacing a worn bolt lock latch and pivot pin, it's operating as it should. Was a bit of a challenge putting this guy back together considering it has a strong action spring.

This is an interesting little firearm. H Koon Snake Charmer .410 single shot that also holds 4 extra shells in the butt shock. It was brought in because it had a very heavy trigger. The pull was way beyond my 11 pound gage. By using the graduated markings, I'm estimating the trigger pull was ~14-16 pounds. I disassembled, polished both trigger and hammer notches, and reassembled 8 times, being careful not to remove to much metal that the hammer wouldn't lock properly. Now it has a trigger pull a little over 5 pounds.

This is what a semi auto shotgun looks like after several years of shooting without a through cleaning. Powder residue build up on magazine tube, gas system and bolt assembly. This reduces performance which could lead to jamming problems. If you own a semi auto or even a pump action shotgun, you should completely disassemble, clean and l**e periodically. Depending on how much you shot, at minimum once a year.

Today is shotgun day! Beretta DT11 needs new firing pins and trigger work. Re*****on 11-87 and Beretta A300, both with jamming issues. Re*****on 870 Super Mag with broken ejector. Coming in later today is a Browning 2000. Going to be a busy couple of days since several of these will be going to the field for dove hunts later this week.

Working on what is referred to as the "ultimate plinked". R***r 22 Charger. Basically a R***r 10/22 rifle on a pistol frame. As purchased it comes with a bipod, picatinny rail, 10" barrel threaded for a suppressor and 15 round mag. Current trigger pull is at 4 #..... Which needs to be reduced..... I've added a riser to the rail with a 1X Red/Green dot sight. Then put a laser in front. Did some test firing today. Started at 20 yards, then moved to 30 yards. It scattered a few shorts to begin with. Make some adjustments which showed good improvement to holding to a 1 1/2" group. My goal is to keep stretching it out. Trying to hold a 1 1/2" group at 50 yards and 3" group at 100. It will take some work considering 22lr ammo is usually not very consistent.

This .308 was a challenge that was determined to get the best of me. Brand new DPMS rig that would not eject. Hulls were handing up in the breech port. I managed to resolve that issue by clearing some debris from gas tube. Then the challenge began. It would not feed the next round. "Short cycling". Is it under gased, over gased, timing issue of some sort, possibly the buffer weight or buffer spring? Long story short, after testing 3 different magazines, 4 different buffer springs, running the gun semi dry and running it wet, I finally found the right combination to get it to cycle as it should. That was after many times of disassembly, reassembly and over 60 rounds of test ammo.

I haven't posted anything in awhile because nothing of any interest has come through the shop. But I felt this little gun is a bit unique. It's a Steven's Crack Shot Model 16. The Model 16 was manufactured starting in 1900 till 1916. So this gun is at least 104 years old. It's a .22LR single shot with a side finger lever.. also a take down gun. The total length is 34". I my opinion, it's perfect for a young beginner.
I acquired this gun thought a trade for some work. My plan is to give it to a little buddy of mine. But it will be a few more years before he will be old enough to understand the responsibilities and safety of handling a gun.

Just completed the repairs and a deep cleaning on a Wi******er 1400 semi-auto 12 gauge. This old boy was jamming due to a broken extractor. The picture of the extractor, old on the left, new of the right, clearly shows that the extractor "tooth" had broken off. The gun operates like a champ now.

This Re*****on Model 700 had a very heavy trigger pull. About 8 1/2 lbs. I've made some adjustments and its now pulling between 3 - 3 1/2 lbs. A person must be careful with these type of adjustments. The trigger assembly must maintain a good sear engagement or it could fire prematurely when closing the bolt or taking the rifle off safety.... without even touching the trigger..... Next task is to float the barrel.

Here's an oldie for you. M1 carbine, 30 caliber, made by Inland Manufacturing, which was a division of General Motors. This particular rifle was manufactured in March of 1944. The owner has both a collapsible stock and a standard stock. It appears to be in very good shape. I'm going to clean it up and test fire.

Here we have a Berretta 92FS. I have done a partial disassembly and some cleaning. The issue with this gun, as I understand, was submerged underwater for a length of time in a gentleman's car trunk that leaked. It has some heavy corrosion on the frame. Barrel and slide are stainless, so they are not in too bad a shape. I still need to inspect springs, trigger assembly, slide lock, etc. Take note of the mold growth inside the wood grips.

Received a batch of handguns from a lady that lives in Livingston. She sure knows her fi****ms. My job is to disassemble, inspect and clean these handguns, along with extra magazines for each. Nothing special... Expect that you might note that the pistol on the bottom right, is a Walther P38 that was manufactured during WWII. The magazine for this P38 has the same number markings as the pistol and it's holster has the original markings with a date stamp of 1943. It's a nice piece of WWII weaponry.
