STATE FAIR OF TEXAS SHOOTER SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS IN PRISON‼️
👉DALLAS - Cameron Turner, the individual responsible for a 2023 shooting at the State Fair of Texas that resulted in injuries to three individuals, has been sentenced to 12 years of incarceration following a guilty plea. Court documents indicate that the 23-year-old defendant entered into a plea agreement on Monday.
As a consequence of his guilty plea to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Turner received a sentence of 12 years imprisonment. He will be credited for the approximately two years he has already served since his arrest in connection with the incident.
Turner was apprehended in October 2023 in relation to the shooting at the State Fair of Texas, which caused injuries to three individuals.
According to the arrest affidavit, video evidence captured the shooting, which occurred while Turner was at a concession stand within the food court area. A group of males approached him. As Turner turned to depart, a verbal altercation ensued between Turner and one of the victims.
Subsequently, law enforcement officials reported that Turner produced a handgun and initiated gunfire. The report indicated that the victim was unarmed at the time.
Turner later stated that he perceived a threat and acted in "survival mode," firing three to four shots. The shots struck the intended target and, concurrently, injured two other individuals. All individuals sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Turner asserted that he was attempting to protect his family. The arrest affidavit did not specify the nature of the victim's statements that led Turner to believe he was under threat. Furthermore, it did not disclose how Turner introduced the firearm onto the fairgrounds.
At the time of the incident, the State Fair of Texas had a policy prohibiting weapons on its premises, with an exception for individuals possessing a valid license to carry a firearm.
