is a community spotlight show aired on KPFT 90.1 FM. The show airs on various weekdays throughout the year from 9-10am. Scheduled air dates will be posted here. This unique show uncovers gems in Houston – people, events,

and places. It’s a live broadcast show with no call-ins. Host Sarah Gish is an institution in Houston, being a cultural champion as well as a guide to Houston parents about family fun and and summer camps. She also guides countless others about finding their passion and following their heart, exploring transitions and transformations, and marketing. Sarah is also an artist who creates conceptual assemblages out of found objects as well as a writer for Local Houston Magazine and other local publications such as Natural Awakenings, CultureMap and Houston Arts+Culture. The name of the show is taken from the intro to the 1910 book, HOWARD'S END, by E.M. Forster, which was his edict for us to connect as human beings -- all classes, all backgrounds. Each show will feature interviews with interesting people in the Houston community. We’ll dig for the stories that make each person or place unique so that the audience will learn unusual tidbits or be inspired by what they hear. We’ll also discuss related events happening around town. "Only Connect" is shared not only to the KPFT audience of hundreds of thousands of listeners worldwide but also to Sarah Gish’s over 50,000 readers of her blog, GISH PICKS: CURATED CULTURE FOR KIDS & ADULTS (www.gishpicks.com) and followers of her many pages, her Instagram account (www.Instagram.com/SarahGishHouston) and her twitter account (www.Twitter.com/SarahGish). Beyond GISH PICKS, her reach is also very large since she's frequently seen on other media outlets. Sarah’s goal is to show others how very COOL Houston is. Forbes thinks we are (http://onforb.es/MMee0h) – so should you!

Hello there! Thanks for stopping by. This is a page for an occasional radio show I created for 90.1 FM KPFT Houston called “Only Connect: Exploring People and Places that Make Houston Great.” It was on air for five years, from 2012-2017.

The show was thirty minutes and I chose a different interesting person to interview each time. I wanted only one person in order to maximize my interview time and stay focused. I asked each person why/how they came to Houston and then they talked about their life and, where applicable, interesting places with which they were associated.

All of my interviews are archived here, one by one, with a photo of each interviewee.

Please scroll through, take a listen, and enjoy. There are so many wonderful PEOPLE AND PLACES THAT MAKE HOUSTON GREAT!

Did you know that there are 23 million Americans in recovery? And yet, we don't know about many of them because of the anonymity requested by AA. Not everyone is willing to be open about their recovery -- and that's fine and a personal decision -- but the more people that are open, the more we can receive federal funding and get help for those that still suffer.

Enjoy my scintillating conversation from December 30, 2013 with recovery coach Suzanne Jarvis about addiction and reducing the stigma surrounding it by encouraging people to be more open about their recovery.

Jenny Buergermeister, Yoga Queen of Houston, and I had a great chat today (2/28/13) about why she stays in Houston, doing yoga on her horse, her favorite pose, and her new film about Texas. Get over to the Texas Yoga Conference and you'll get to meet her in person. Namaste! (our divine lights DEFINITELY connected today...)

Here's my lovely interview on my show "Only Connect: Exploring People and Places that Make Houston Great"with Anne Wilkes Tucker, the Gus and Lyndall Wortham Curator of Photography for the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. It really struck me when she said one of the things she learned from curating the War/Photography show was that war is in us. Very profound (and sad) indeed!

Enjoy my interview with Dr. Monica Roberson of The Healing Space in Houston. We talked about healthy habits, her philosophy of integrative healing that she learned under Dr. Andrew Weil, and how to take care of yourself over the holidays. I got some great ideas from her about better self care...such as, um, getting more sleep...
