Where's this? Hint: It's a charming, small town in Mexico! If you can figure it out, leave a comment! (Or take a look at Pueblos Mágicos by Chuck Burton, available on Amazon and the BCP website!) 😊

The answer is also on the author's insta:

Chuck Burton, author of Pueblos Mágicos, visited the Magic Town of Chiapa de Corzo this week, where he explored the towering heights and clear waters of Sumidero Canyon, along with taking in the sights and sounds of the town itself. He writes:

"I spent two minutes walking to the river, where various touts tried to get me into their restaurants or to buy boat tickets. All around were food and crafts booths, which went on for blocks, and crowds of Mexican families. I didn’t see any other foreigners. Around the corner was a ticket counter. The price for a canyon tour was 450 pesos, or about $24—good thing, because I certainly didn’t need the transportation, which was part of the online version. I was already here. And with my Mexican resident Senior card it was down to 290. So the original online price of $50 had shrunk to $15.

The tour the next day was definitely spectacular. We spent over two hours passing through some breathtaking scenery. We saw crocodiles, monkeys, pelicans, and egrets. The misty falls of the were special, as was being dripped upon while passing beneath them…"

Happy New Year! We're going to be trying our best to avoid accidentally writing "2025" on our documents as January gets into gear, and we're also debuting our 2025 (ahem, 2026) resolutions. See above!

Ambitiously, we'd like to publish two titles this year. We already have solid submissions coming in and an array of manuscripts on our shortlist. Our usual output is one title, but, if we work hard, two seems eminently doable.

In line with that potential increase in workload, and also due to some backlogged clerical tasks, we'd also like to hire an administrative assistant! It will be exciting to expand the Bayou City Press team.

Social media is a vital part of modern marketing, and we want to get back on the ball in that area. Instagram is one of the most vibrant social platforms for book discussions and promotions, so we'll be leveraging that heavily. Stay on the lookout for new posts! Our account is .

Finally, and certainly the least fun, is navigating the apocalyptic IT situation. Hardware and software issues plagued us throughout the year, and we're doing our best to get everything sorted out soon.

Bayou City Press has published our latest book, a travelogue of author Chuck Burton's adventures in Mexico's Pueblos Mágicos!

Pueblos Mágicos: A Traveler’s Guide to Mexico’s Hidden Treasures covers 62 of the towns in the Government of Mexico’s “Pueblos Mágicos” initiative, a program that identifies and promotes towns in Mexico that have special cultural or historical significance. Most of these places are small and less well-known than Mexico’s large cities and popular tourist destinations.

Author Chuck Burton, a long-time Mexico traveler and resident, has visited all of these towns. The book's full of exciting stories, humorous anecdotes, and insider's travel advice. It was a delight to work with Burton and bring the book to life--and even more delightful to plan our journey through Mexico's beautiful small towns.

Big news! Bayou City Press has just returned from New York City, where we held a presentation of Ettore Farrattini’s new novel, The Nine Lives of Tito d’Amelia, at the La MaMa Theater.

The event host at La MaMa was David Diamond, who in his role as coordinator of La MaMa's program in Umbria has visited Amelia many times and is a long-time friend of Ettore. 🇮🇹 📚 😻

Ettore read passages from his novel and chatted with the enthusiastic audience. It was a wonderful success, and we sincerely thank David Diamond and La MaMa Experimental Theater for offering Bayou City Press this opportunity to reach New York fans of author Ettore Farrattini.
