Dean and Rog

Dean and Rog Dean and Rog mornings 5am-10am Dean and Rog have been waking up Houston for over 20 years. You won't find any angry political talk here, just 5 hours of fun.

They started with just 16 listeners and have since nearly doubled that figure. Their show is the perfect balance of talk and music and just enough information to start your day. Fans of the show can't get enough of the Birthday Scam, Redneck Roy, and the Dean and Rog Singers.

Today's Dead Guy in the Envelope is Antoine-Joseph "Adolphe" Sax (1814 – 1894) a Belgian inventor and musician who invented the saxophone in the early 1840s, patenting it in 1846. He also invented the saxotromba, saxhorn and saxtuba, and redesigned the bass clarinet in a fashion still used to the present day.

Here's the recipe for Kelly Ryan's DRINK OF THE WEEK. Unanimous SPIT!

*Note - This was a real stinker .. I'd say skip the fig altogether and go with any other simple syrup you like. The fig was terrible. Kell

Figgy Whiskey Bubbly

2 ounces Honey Whiskey
1 ounce Fig Syrup
½ - ¾ cups Prosecco
Thyme sprig and or orange slice for garnish if desired.

For Fig Syrup:
Combine the 1 cup water, 1 tsp vanilla, juice from 1 orange and about 6 dried figs chopped, in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer over low heat. Whisk until the honey is melted and figs begin to soften. Add the thyme to the mixture and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring often. Remove from heat and let sit for a few minutes. Strain and let cool.

For Drink:
In shaker combine honey whiskey and fig syrup with some ice. Shake vigorously. Pour whiskey fig combo into glasses and top with Prosecco.

Garnish with extra thyme and or orange slices if desired.
