Over the weekend, Democrats in the Texas House walked out during the vote on Senate Bill 7. Their walkout blocked the passage of a bill that would create new voting restrictions—limiting early voting hours, restricting vote-by-mail, and curbing local voting options. Monica and a group of women in Texas have been fighting against these voting bills for months. She's hoping this move by Texas Democrats will encourage other legislators to not pass this bill. My little Sissie’s birthday is here again! It’s honestly my favorite day of the year. It’s the day my best friend was born. We’re not twins but couldn’t be closer. I’ve shared my secrets, everything in the world I could ever be pi**ed about and overjoyed about...she’s my ace, my protector, my hero and the person that can make me laugh and feel loved even in my darkest hour. She’s strong and beautiful and I look up to her...even though she’s a lot shorter than me:))))) In my heart, she’s a 6 foot 5 inch lioness. Love you Cece. Thank you for being born! Among our Beauty for Freedom, it's been such an emotional and confusing time for our communities and we wanted to address the police brutality and widespread systemic racism representing historical and current sources of trauma in communities of color.

We decided to go back to our communities of artists and thought leaders and have started a special Podcast series discussing Race Relations, political activism and the role of the arts and communication in healing; the first episode features Miguel Carter-Fisher, Professor at Virginia State University and Artist (Narrative Painter). This is our response to our current civil rights crisis, the collective trauma caused by inequality and violence, and processing our emotions throughout.
