A Nice hotel in the 2025 selection
Among the sixteen hotels in this selection, there is a French one: the Hôtel du Couvent. Located in the heart of Old Nice, the Sainte-Catherine convent, this building founded in 1604 has been given a new lease of life after ten years of renovation directed by Valéry Grégo, head of the Perseus group. This ambitious project has brought new life to a convent listed as a Historic Monument since 1989.
Surrounded by 10,000 m2 of greenery just a stone's throw from the sea, this five-star hotel “celebrates the rituals of a long-gone monastic life, with the restaurant occupying the former refectory, and the bakery and herbalist's shop returning to their original locations,” explains the Prix Versailles. “Without any explicit religious references, the hotel cultivates a rare atmosphere, conducive to tranquillity and well-being.
