Just look at that good-looking, baby face of a brave 17-year-old. This was Royle Luker who will be laid to rest today in Arkansas. I posted the other day how his remains were finally identified, using DNA advancements, after being killed during the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

To give you a sense of how rare of a funeral it is today, Royle’s father fought in World War I - well over 100 years ago. That’s certainly not something typically read in an obituary in 2026.

I’ve watched dozens if not hundreds of historical pieces of different battles. And I’ve shared dozens of stories of military veterans, many who brag about tricking the military into thinking they were older when they weren’t. It was - without question - a different time and a different mindset for many of the teens of that time. God bless them all for being willing to defend our rights as Americans.

This Memorial Day holds an even deeper meaning for my family. 🇺🇸

On October 20, 2025 — after 81 long years — my great uncle, WWII Purple Heart recipient Nicholas Hartman, finally came home to Houston, Texas from the beaches of Normandy. He was just 20 years old when he made the ultimate sacrifice on D-Day, June 6, 1944.

For decades, our family only had stories, memories, and hope. Through modern DNA identification, he was finally accounted for and laid to rest with the honor he deserved. Witnessing his return home was something my family and I will never forget. Highly emotional and truly special.

This Memorial Day, I honor not only my great uncle, but every brave man and woman who gave their lives for our freedom. Their courage, sacrifice, and legacy live on through the generations.

Please remember the true meaning of Memorial Day. It is not just a day off work or a day to BBQ. It is a day to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

Please take a moment today to remember those who never made it home — and those who waited a lifetime for them. ❤️🤍💙

Today, we honor the true meaning of Memorial Day. 🇺🇸

I come from a proud military family. My other half, grandfathers, brother, and uncles all served our country honorably, and I’m beyond grateful for their sacrifices and commitment to protecting our freedom. We should always thank our active duty military and veterans.

But today is especially about the heroes we’ve lost.

Today, we remember my great uncle, Army Pfc. Nicholas Hartman — a Purple Heart recipient and WWII D-Day hero. After being missing for 81 years, he was finally brought home and honored last year after DNA helped identify him. His courage, sacrifice, and legacy will never be forgotten. We also think about all the brave men and women who lost their precious lives and thank them for the ultimate sacrifice they made for our country.

We also think about the families who lost a loved one. God bless you all, and we will see you again one day. ❤️🤍💙

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend. It’s a day to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave everything for this country.
