In Skardu, the rising water levels at Zhug Kachura caused a tourist boat to overturn. Several passengers went missing, prompting search and rescue operations. Gilgit-Baltistan's government spokesperson Faizullah Firaq confirmed that teams are actively searching for those missing in the accident.
The closure of the Karakoram Highway has halted vehicle movement between the two countries. However, officials from various departments are working hard to repair the damaged section and reopen the vital road as soon as possible. Meanwhile, authorities have imposed Section 144 on all boating activities on local lakes to prevent further accidents.
