When writing, even in fiction, draw from your own, real personal experiences. There is nothing more compelling than a story of fact or something historic. Here’s an example of a multi-decade passion that I used as fodder for my character Bryant L. Herman in the novel “Simple Triple Standard.”
Herman fed on ideals greater than his own. Between 1960 and 1996 the Houston Oilers honed the collective Houston, Texas appetite for fortune and fame. Bryant L. Herman, a local radio newscaster lives vicariously through the top news stories of his time.
