I have been a Guest Teacher in Humble ISD for the past six years, and during that time I’ve discovered my passion for working with elementary students—especially second graders. I began subbing when my own children were in 4th and 5th grade and quickly fell in love with their school and the joy of teaching. Most of my experience is in second grade, though I have taught across multiple grade levels and subject areas. This year, I covered a start-of-year maternity leave as a math and science teacher using the Bluebonnet curriculum, and last year I spent twelve weeks teaching reading and language arts with the UFLI program. I enjoy the challenge of stepping into different roles and supporting students wherever I am needed. My background in English Literature and Music Performance makes me especially excited to fill in for Librarians and Music Teachers, two areas I truly enjoy. My dream job is to serve as an elementary school librarian, where I could combine my love of reading, music, and student discovery every day. Before my time in Humble ISD, I taught music and science monthly at a private preschool and worked as an in-class assistant in the 4-year-old program. That experience gave me a front-row seat to how young children grow and learn, as well as the joy of being present during my own children’s early years. Outside of education, I’ve worked in graphic design, corporate travel, and procurement. These roles have strengthened my organizational skills, creativity, and ability to adapt to many different responsibilities—all qualities I bring with me into the classroom. At my core, I believe children thrive when they have both structure and joy in learning. My goal as a teacher is to model, guide, and then step back so students can grow into confident, independent thinkers.
