Our journalists are being attacked while doing their jobs. This is unacceptable.

Opinion: "Reporters and photographers are there to record the truth, as peaceful or as violent as it may be... But when police target us as we stand off to the side or back from the action, reporting, recording, interviewing, that is not an accident."

When we get sprayed as part of a crowd, we understand. But when we're targeted as we stand back and report, that is unacceptable.

Yesterday, Livingston County had a higher number of new COVID-19 cases (8) than we've seem since May 1st. Where these actual new cases or were the records being caught up? Where they all isolated or did they come from one or two locations? Why is there no coverage from our local 'newspaper'?

Buyer Beware! This guy works and takes deposits in the Livingston area!! If you are thinking about putting a swimming pool in the ground or building a pole barn, don’t hire this crook! We hired this guy, Joe Miner, on 10-23-19 to build a pole barn. He also goes by Lawrence Joseph Miner, A & R Pools or Andrew Rose Construction. I don’t know how, but he is a licensed builder in Michigan. It’s one thing to have horrible workmanship, but this guy not only builds like he never held a hammer in his life, he also stole our money. He asked me to pay him the FULL balance for building the barn when he was not done with it yet. He said β€œI promise I will be back tomorrow to finish.” Nope! Never came back to finish building the barn. Like an idiot, I trusted the guy. He’s one of those guys that talks about God and what an honest business he runs and about how he never took a customers money or didn’t finish a job. All the BS you hear from a normal scam artist. It gets a lot worse. The same day I paid him in full for a job that was not complete, I also wrote him a second check for a 30x56 pad of concrete. He said he β€œneeded the money to buy the concrete”. Again like an idiot, I wrote him a check for $6,970.00. I wrote both these checks on 2-26-2020. I questioned him when he asked for the $6,970.00. I told him I was not comfortable giving anyone that kind of money before the job starts. His response to me was, β€œI have never in my life ever took money that I did not earn. Besides, I am leaving my machine and trailer here and they’re worth a lot more than what you gave me.” I thought about it for a second and then wrote the check thinking to myself at least I have his Skidsteer and trailer. Little did I know he was going to cash the checks and then sneak back on my property hook up his trailer and skid-steer and bolt. I gave him so much flexibility with the Covid issue going on. I never expected him to work during the shut down at all. I was completely understanding and all I asked of him was to just keep me posted. On 22 different occasions, I received text messages that he was going to be at the house to finish the barn but he never showed up. He would send me a text the night before saying β€œI will be there in the morning”. But he never showed. On several occasions, he texted me in the morning stating β€œon my way, see you in a few”. But never came. He slowly stopped answering my calls and stopped returning text messages. I finally got in touch with him on May 4th knowing the Governor lifted the ban on construction and concrete on the 7th. He told me he was all set and ready to go and he would be at our house to finish the barn that he was paid in full for and also pour the concrete. He said he talked to the concrete place and ordered the concrete for May 7th. He never showed and has since blocked my number from his phone. So be careful. This guy is a thief. I’m left with a barn that is not finished being built and no concrete. Here are some pics of his workmanship.

But the response to Detmer’s association with the Proud Boys has now drawn the attention of ADL Michigan, which tweeted out the picture Monday with a statement that read, β€œThe Proud Boys are a right-wing extremist group that embraces violence, nationalism, and misogyny. It's disturbing to see Congressional candidate Mike Detmer proudly broadcasting his affiliation with this group.”

I live in Red Cedar Crossing in Fowlerville, I’ve lived here nine months, I like the area. Your delivery driver has no muffler and wakes up the neighborhood. Can you please address this with that person? It’s not a one time thing but an ongoing issue.

Seen on Grand River today (5/3/20), in Brighton, near Hope street. Not only do both signs have misspelled words-"Heard" and "Fatatity", but their 'facts' are wrong. There are many of us in Livingston County who do not subscribe to these beliefs and are in support of Gov. Whitmer's directives. I have no idea whose electronic sign this is, but it offends me in more ways than one.
What is it gonna take to get you guys to stop littering all over our town? I didn’t ask for these worthless ads. I have never taken your paper or any paper. Rather I have called, emailed & FB messaged to get you to stop dumping trash in my driveway and yard. Zero change. My neighbor has about a dozen of these bags in his driveway, yard & ditch. Up and down Oak grove they litter the side of the road. How is these even legal to throw ur ads on my property? Can I dump my stuff on your property ? Livingston County Government can you help? LivingstonCounty Sheriff can you help?
