New Jersey drivers have a unique talent: changing lanes five times in a quarter mile only to end up exactly where they started.

We all know that person...or maybe we are that person, who sees a lane moving half a car length faster and immediately begins plotting a crossover.
Sometimes it works. Most of the time, the car you passed ends up right next to you at the next red light anyway but that won't stop us from trying. After all, hope springs eternal in New Jersey traffic.

New Jersey may have an official state flag, but let's be h9nedt...if residents got to redesign it, there's a good chance a pizza slice would end up on there somewhere.

Pizza isn't just food in New Jersey. It's a point of pride. We judge towns by it, defend our favorite spots like family members, and can somehow tell within one bite whether a place knows what it's doing.

From neighborhood pizzerias that have been around for generations to the endless debates over who has the best slice, pizza is woven into everyday life here

If New Jersey ever needed an official family crest, it would probably look something like this. Traffic that never quite moves, coffee that somehow becomes a personality trait, pizza we're willing to defend in court, and just enough sarcasm to get through the day.

New Jerseyans may disagree on pork roll vs. Taylor Ham, North vs. South Jersey, and which pizza place is the best but these four things seem to unite us all. It's not complaining... it's tradition

Long before Walmart and Target dominated the retail landscape, New Jersey shoppers had Two Guys.

The chain began in Harrison, New Jersey in 1946 when two brothers-in-law, Herbert and Sidney Hubschman, opened a discount store they called Two Guys from Harrison.

The idea was simple: sell a huge variety of products at low prices. It worked.

By the 1960s and 1970s, Two Guys had grown into one of the largest discount retail chains in the country.

The stores sold everything from toys and clothing to electronics, sporting goods, and household items.

At its peak, the company operated dozens of locations across the Northeast and became a familiar sight in communities throughout New Jersey.

Competition from newer retailers and changing shopping habits eventually took their toll, and the chain disappeared in the early 1990s

Forr many New Jerseyans, a trip to Two Guys remains one of those classic childhood memories that instantly brings back another era

There are an estimated 4,000 to 8,000 shipwrecks off the New Jersey coast, making it one of the most concentrated areas of sunken vessels in the world, and it'soften referred to as the northern "Graveyard of the Atlantic

Most people don't realize that the waters off New Jersey are home to one of the largest collections of shipwrecks in North America.

For centuries, ships traveling between major ports like New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Europe passed along the Jersey coastline.

Unfortunately, the same waters that made New Jersey an important shipping route also made it dangerous. Dense fog, shifting sandbars, powerful storms, and navigational errors sent thousands of vessels to the ocean floor.

Historians estimate that more than there is anywhere from 4,000 ships to 8,000 shipwrecks that have been lost off the state's shoreline, ranging from colonial-era sailing ships and Civil War vessels to luxury steamships and World War II casualties.

Today, many of these wrecks remain beneath the waves, serving as artificial reefs that attract fish, divers, and historians.

Some are well documented, while others still hold mysteries waiting to be uncovered beneath the Atlantic Ocean

There comes a point every summer when New Jersey stops feeling like a state and starts feeling like the inside of a baked potato.

We're now entering the season where you can take a shower, get dressed, walk to your car, and arrive at your destination looking like you just completed a wilderness expedition. The air is thick, the pavement is melting.

Stay hydrated, check on your friends, and remember: if you're sweating while standing completely still, that's not a medical emergency. That's just New Jersey in June

A traffic stop in Jackson Township has gone viral has prompted an internal police review following allegations of profiling.

The driver, Jamal Holmes, recorded a June 2 encounter in which officers questioned why he was wearing a sweatshirt in 80-degree weather and cited concerns about his behavior and a handicap placard displayed in the vehicle.

During the stop, Holmes repeatedly requested a supervisor while officers instructed him to exit the vehicle.

Some of the convo during the encounter:

“What was the reason for stopping me?” Holmes asks, just a few miles from the Westlake Mews residential development.

“When we drove by in the Mews, we just saw you; I was a little concerned, it looked like you were reaching down, just like hiding your face when we came by. You're wearing a sweatshirt in 80-degree weather,” the first officer says.

“You got a handicap placard up, there’s people that complain in the Mews about people parking in handicap spots,” the officer says.

More than two minutes into the video, an officer mentioned the vehicle's inspection sticker was expired. The footage appears to end with officers removing Holmes from the vehicle.

Holmes later alleged he was pushed against his car and taken to police headquarters before being released and told he would receive a summons by mail. He has said the incident left him in pain due to a previous spinal fusion surgery.

Jackson Township Police say they are conducting a full review of the incident and stated that all allegations of discrimination will be investigated thoroughly and impartially.

The Jackson Township Police Chief Mary Nelson said in a written statement shared to Facebook on Sunday:

"The Jackson Township Police Department takes all allegations of discrimination seriously. We are aware of the concerns that have been raised and are reviewing the matter in accordance with our policies and procedures. A thorough and impartial review will be conducted to ensure all relevant facts and circumstances are considered."

Despite its ominous name, Shades of Death Road wasn't named after a horror movie or a ghost story.

The rural road runs through Warren County and has been puzzling New Jerseyans for generations.

No one knows for certain where the name came from, but several theories have emerged over the years.

Some believe it dates back to the 1800s, when the area was heavily wooded and known for violent disputes, robberies, and occasional murders.

The road was officially the site of several gruesome, unsolved murders in the 1920s and 1930s.

Others say the name came from the dense forest canopy that cast dark "shades" over the roadway, making it feel gloomy even during the day.

As the years passed, the road became the center of countless local legends involving ghost sightings, phantom hitchhikers, strange lights, and unexplained sounds.

It's also dangerous, the sharp curves and lack of lighting on the winding road have caused numerous fatal accidents over the decades.

Whether all of the stories are fact or folklore depends on who you ask, but they helped turn an ordinary country road into one of New Jersey's most famous legends.

Today, Shades of Death Road remains a real road with real residents, but its eerie name continues to attract curious visitors and make it one of the most talked-about stretches of pavement in the Garden State.

May or may not be the same person

Every New Jersey town has at least one. The guy who spends all winter proving he's immune to cold, then somehow spends the entire summer wearing the same black hoodie when the air feels like soup.

Nobody knows how he's still alive. Nobody questions it. It's just part of the ecosystem, right between the geese and the lanternflies
