New York Open Air Shakespeare

New York Open Air Shakespeare Open Air Shakespeare is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a New York State registered charity.

We produce stage and film productions, and offer performing arts classes in Lisbon in Portugal and Hudson, NY. New York Open Air Shakespeare produces plays by Willam Shakespeare, with diverse and inclusive cast members. We are based in Hudson, NY and like our sister company Open Air Shakespeare that is based in Lisbon, Portugal we also provide acting classes for children and adults.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the New York Open Air Shakespeare and Open Air Shakespeare 1st Annual Shakespeare Monologue Slam Competition 2026 at the Park Theater Hudson which step in at the last minute and became a much better location for this spirited and joyful event.

A big special thanks to Sean Allison for stepping in to help me in my delicate condition to be MC and also for performing a fun monologue to get us going. And to the wonderful T. Boris Schacter for supporting the kids so well and for the amazingly cool monologue performance. Also a special thank you Gunga for his magical drumming to inspire everyone’s creative juices. Also you to the Judges Julius James (who is also one of our Board of Directors) and Mark Wunderlinch, who along with me had a very hard job deciding because so, so many people were FANTASTIC!!!
