✨This is likely the most important post I’ll ever make…..

You don’t have to figure your entire life out today.

Not your career.
Not your purpose.
Not your finances.
Not your identity.
Not your 5-year plan.

Just today.

When you’re fresh in recovery, everything feels soo very urgent. Like you woke up late to your own life and now you need to sprint to catch up.

You see people your age with careers, houses, routines, stability… and your brain tells you you’re behind. That you wasted time. That you need to fix EVERYTHING immediately.

You don’t.

✅Your job right now is to stay sober.
✅Your job right now is to stay alive.
✅Your job right now is to learn how to exist without numbing, escaping, or self-destructing.

That is not “small.”
That is not “just the beginning.”
That is the foundation of literally everything else.

📣You are not behind. You are rebuilding.

And rebuilding is slow.
Rebuilding is messy.
Rebuilding is uncomfortable.
Rebuilding looks like tiny wins no one claps for.

Some days the biggest accomplishment is:
• getting out of bed
• showing up to work
• answering a phone call
• making a meal
• Making an apt.
• Forcing yourself into the shower
• Taking out the trash.
• not using

And that counts. It ALL counts.

💭You don’t need a life plan.
You need the next right step.
You’re not going to fix years to decades of literal brain damage & unhealthy coping mechanisms in a few months. If you haven’t figured it out yet- the substance, the addiction, those things were never the problem! They were a crap solution to a real problem. The hard part is finding out what that problem is, and we may have to go deep for that. The ones who make it look easy? You don’t live in their head, remember that.

Then the next one.
Then the next one.

Your life will grow as you do.

Stop putting the pressure of a 10-year plan on a nervous system that’s just learning how to breathe again. To crawl again. Eyes that’re just now seeing the beautiful colors in nature after finally emerging from a life time of fogginess.

You’re not late.
You’re not behind.
You’re right on time for your own life.

This is coming from someone with 4 years and 4 months clean. I now have a wonderful husband, a house, we’re business owners. But wait wait….I’m no different than you. 13+ years of active addiction. I don’t need to paint the picture for you of what that darkness looked like for me. You already know, you’ve also road that train to hell. That first year of recovery? BRUTAL. I was incapable of doing the most basic of tasks. It was both frustrating and irritating. Tasks a 5 year old could likely complete before I could. My mind, emotions, body, spirit- totally scrambled and spit out. I somehow had to create a new life from all that mush and for a long time I thought this would just always be me. I had to relearn how to be social in a body that no longer had a crutch. All the little things. “Do I always say hi to the cashier?” “Does Walmart feel this BIG & BRIGHT to everyone else?” “Why does nothing feel quite “real”….am I loosing it?

Then time went on. I learned I could change how I self identify and man was that a game changer for me!! That’s right folks, we no longer have to self identify with our past self. That person no longer exists! Once this shift happens, everything changed. Trust me on that! God saved me personally & he can save you too.

Once I accepted I can only ever be me, I was free.

If you’re early in recovery and feeling overwhelmed, this is your reminder to slow down. You are allowed to build your life one day at a time. 🤍

With that said, I’d like you to sit with that for a moment. Then I’d like you to ask yourself a few questions…..
✨What’s the hardest part of early recovery for you right now?
✨What was your biggest fear about getting sober. Was it true?
✨Have you thought at all about how you self identify?
✨What’s one tiny thing you did this past week that past you couldn’t?
✨What helped you get thru your first 30 days?

For those further along….
🎈What advice would you give someone on day 1-30?
🎈 What’s something in your life now that sobriety gave back to you?
🎈If you could hug your early recovery self, what would you say?

When did accountability become judgment?

Somewhere along the way, Christians started believing that speaking truth = being “judgy”… so we stopped speaking altogether.

But silence isn’t love. We aren’t called to “judge” NON Christians. There is a difference.
Watching someone struggle while saying nothing isn’t kindness.
And pretending everything is fine doesn’t make us compassionate.

There’s a difference between condemning people and caring enough to call each other higher, to protect other Christians from being led astray.
Real love tells the truth. Real love has hard conversations. Real love doesn’t stay quiet just to stay comfortable.

We were never called to be silent… we were called to love well.

Last night I stumbled upon this in my Bible Psalm 94:16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked? Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?(17) Unless the Lord had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.

I know I’ll get torn apart with “take the plank out of your own eye” comments and that’s fine, I know I’m a sinner. However, I’m a sinner that’s tired of watching this take place from the sidelines and pretending it’s not happening…..this thing that looks a lot like new age trying to rebrand itself as Christianity.

When did accountability become judgment?

𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐓𝐨𝐨 PRIDEFUL 𝐓𝐨 𝐌𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐞s?
𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞. 𝐋𝐞𝐭’𝐬 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐈𝐭.

🔍🔍🔍🔍🔍🔍🔍🔍🔍🔍🔍🔎🔎🔎🔍🔍🔍

I see a lot of posts lately
about how people can’t
afford groceries. About how
expensive everything is.
About inflation. Talks on
how “it’s never been this
bad before”. How our parents
and especially their parents
lived in an easier world.

Don’ t even get.me.started. on when I was watching the pre-planned PANICK & UPROAR we seen when individuals just THOUGHT their EBT was going to get cut off!

That system was BUILT to control, to keep people in

line from the day of its inception. CREATED to keep

the poor caged in poverty for generation after

generation. But I’ll stop there, as thats off topic and

perhaps meant for its own post.

And I get it…..times are hard. Prices are wild. It’s stressful and scary.

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞: being broke is not new. You know it, I know it, they know it. But before you go swimming in todays rhetoric and I mean uninitentionally begin swimmmming in alllll their opinions on the matter, let me pull you up real quick before you end up DROWNING in that doomsday like way of thinking. How they want and yes, need you to think/feel.

Because you WILL.DROWN.OVER.THERE
𝐘𝐎𝐔.
𝐖𝐈𝐋𝐋.
𝐃𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐍 sister, brother. So come on up, take this pink sparkly life raft, we’re movin on up!

I want to share something from my own life, not from a place of judgment, but from experience.
This is where we hit the part noone wants to hear.
SOME OF YOU ARE TOO PRIDEFUL TO GET OUT THE STRUGGLE.
Baby, if youre broke, that pride needs to take a backseat. Get some 𝐁𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐢𝐞 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬⚡️& headrests back there for your brokeness & your pride, it’ll be sitting fine and comfy back there for just a little while.
See…I was broke before you could even admit such as it was not yet a collective thing for everyone. I hit my lowest before yall were treating being broke like a darn group project!

All that to remind you, once you remove the pride(not GONE just chillen in the back seat for a bit, remember?), the “systems working against us” mentality……you now have time to get creative, resourceful baby. Where are all my millenials at anyways???! We were/ARE the KING of a good hustle! Come on now, show me those roots! You got comfy for a while, well dig them roots out! Noones going to do it for you. Our hustle game is a skill set, dont let that collect dust under your luie bags!! Cmon now!

So let’s roll back to when
there was a time when I didn’t
have the option to
be picky or proud. So what did I do?
I started dumpster diving for the very
first time.dive. Yep. Before here, I lived
in a condo and let me tell you about the
absolute treasures i found in those
dumpsters! I’m not ashamed to say it,
yes i went dumpster diving. Now, not
ALL my pride was gone, I did wait
till around 2-3am before i snuck
out with my whole….wait for
it….”dumpster bag” which carried
gloves, sanitizer, sticks with handles
to grab things, flash lights, a huge hoodie
to cover my face, ect! I cleaned up (sometimes scruuuub SCRUBBED) what I found,
fixed what I could, sanitized it, played
photographer with found items
(even found THE PHOTO BOX I USED
TO DO SO in a dumpster one night lol),
then posted and sold it on FB Marketplace.
You’d be surprised at the amount of items that needed ZERO fixing as they were brand new
and functioning, people throw out that type
of thing all the time! Soo many items
brand new & SEALED IN THE ORIGINAL BOX!
I recall one time we found soooo
many pairs of brand new, still in box shoes,
from small child to adult. My husband
and I to this day still each have theee
dopest pair of jordands we found
brand new IN OUR SIZE! Mind you,
these were not store dumpsters,
just a regular ol condo complex.
We always had countless vacuums
and printers as I guess people throw
those out for no good reason. I remember
one time, I found what looked like some part
to a real old school computer. Looked it up,
posted, and some man drove
from 2 states away to buy it off me for $700.
He was thrilled as according to him
hed been looking for that specific
part for ages & it simply didnt exist
anymore. Now keep in mind,
the real kicker here is I
was making 100 PERCENT profit!!
If im being honest, i was proud
of my “little business”
& my 5 star rating. This was during the
time before the governmet and
taxes stuck their nose in it. I’m not
going to inflate numbers, but from this alone i was making $6-800/week.
Maybe those dont sound like
crazy to you, but 1. Im not here
to make up stories & 2.
Again, 100% profit. I also
kept good reviews as i was never
trying to do anyone wrong, if they
got home & the item didnt work
how they liked, i made it right always.
See, i said you cant be broke with too
much PRIDE, I didnt say to ever move
without keeping
𝐘 O U R
𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐆𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐘.
Thats how people
block their own blessings! I wasn’t doing it for attention. I wasn’t doing it because it was fun or trendy. I was doing it because I needed to survive and well, because it worked.

AND LETS NOT FORGET ABOUT THOSE HAND MADE MASKS! You heard right. Didnt forget already did ya? About all those suddenly PRO MASK MAKERS that came out the wood works during CO🙈ID??!? Those people were slingin hundreds and hundreds of those hand made masks out their windows in 2020! The MASK HUSTLE😂 I’ll tip my hat to those people!👏🏼🎊🥳

I basically built my own little hustle out of what other people threw away.

What I learned during that season is that pride can 𝘲𝘶𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘭𝘺
𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱
𝘺𝘰𝘶
𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘤𝘬.
Not money. Pride. The idea that you’re “too good” for certain things, or that you shouldn’t have to do them. Survival doesn’t care about pride. Bills don’t care about pride. Hunger definitely doesn’t.

This isn’t me saying “just work harder” or dismissing anyone’s struggles. Everyone’s situation is different. But I do believe we’ve lost some adaptability as a society. Hard times used to force creativity. Now they often just turn into complaints, and I say that as someone who’s been on both sides.

I’m not ashamed of that chapter of my life nor the many like it if we’re keeping it real here. It taught me resourcefulness, humility, and resilience. And those skills carried me a lot farther than pride ever did.

If you’re in a tough season right now: there is no shame in survival mode. Do what you have to do. Get creative. Be humble. Use what’s available to you. This chapter doesn’t define you — but how you respond to it can shape everything that comes next.
Just be careful that prideo doesnt KEEP YOU STUCK.

Take what resonates. Leave what doesn’t.
////This is just my story. ////💙

I’ll end this on my favorite note- I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU, my hustling millennials especially, what was/is your favorite hustle? Did it come about from your own creativity? Your own idea? Did generations of family before you put you on? I also wanna hear the FAILED hustles(Ill share mine too) so we can cry, reminince, and laugh our way thru this TOGHETER community💖
