My INsnyde Take...RoQita’s Border Theater: When $50,000 Bags Meet Law-and-Order Cosplay
Nothing says “law and order” quite like Indiana’s top legal officer grinning next to the guy literally caught with $50,000 in a bag — surrounded by sheriffs and grandstanding lawmakers pretending the Hoosier State is the new El Paso. The “Fairness for Hoosiers” event, closed to both reporters and the public (because transparency is overrated), was the latest taxpayer-funded campaign rally masquerading as policy. There, Vice President JD Vance’s favorite “border czar,” Tom Homan, pounded his chest about deportations and “missing children” while Todd Rokita and Gov. Mike Braun nodded like bobbleheads in uniform.
But the real irony? Indiana’s supposed defenders of the rule of law surrounded themselves with a walking ethics headline, a handful of sheriffs, and Rep. Andrew Ireland — fresh from tweeting outrage over Indianapolis crime but apparently unbothered by taking selfies with “cash-in-a-bag” corruption. Literally the only thing missing was Tippy Toes Diego awkwardly reaching for acknowledgment in the background. It’s the kind of hypocrisy Hoosiers have come to expect: preach morality, pose with scandal, and call it patriotism. Nothing screams “Fairness for Hoosiers” quite like a photo op where integrity checks its badge at the door.
