Weather made us shift plans, but there’s always an adventure to be had!

Although we thought we’d be deep in the woods right now, getting to spend time at my favorite North Alabama orchard, Isom's Orchard , with friends who have become family surely made up for the change in plans.

Today is the last day for U-pick, so if you’re local, put on your boots and go pick some apples before the storm rolls in!

And if your plans get rained out this weekend, don’t let that stop you from finding a little adventure of your own.

Sometimes you just need to take a look back to remind you how far you’ve come.

In 7 days, we’ll host our 9th Family Adventure Camp with Black Kids Adventures, Inc. It’s been a tough year for me, but this gift of bringing families together in the outdoors continues to bless me and remind me of whose work I’m doing!

I used to think a leash was simply there to keep my board from drifting away.

The more I paddled, the more I realized it serves an even more important purpose, it helps keep me connected to my board if I unexpectedly end up in the water.
One of the best things we can do as paddlers isn’t just buy the right gear, it’s understand what each piece is designed to do.
Different paddling environments call for different types of leashes, so take a little time to learn what equipment is appropriate for where you’re paddling before you launch.

Whether you’re in a kayak, canoe, or on a paddleboard, understanding your gear is an important part of paddling safely.
