DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A planned power outage will take place in DeKalb County on Sunday.

DeKalb County Emergency Management told News 19 that the outage will take place on Sunday morning around 6 a.m. in the Valley Head and Sulphur Springs area.

The outage is being done to move 3-phase power in the Valley Head Park to the new poles.

Areas highlighted in orange on the map will experience a power outage.

At 150pm cdt. Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thurnderstorms and near bull city, or 10 miles west of hueytowm, moving east at 5mph .

Hazard... Wind gust up to 40 mph.

Source... Radar indicated.

⚠️ impact... Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unnsecured objects.

Birmingham, hoover, vestavia hills, bessemer, homewood, mountain brook, trussville, hueytown, gardendale, irindale, leeds, moody, fairfield, fultondale, center point, pleasent grove ,clay, pinson, tarrant and midfield

The weather switch will flip and a below average temperature trend takes over after a strong cold front starts ! This is great to see after relentless heat!

[8 PM] Lows will only dip into the low to mid 70s tonight before the heat returns in full force tomorrow. Make sure to start the day prepared to take on the heat for whatever plans you have tomorrow. If out and about: never leave kids or pets in the car!

HEAT LEVELS DROP DROP IN 5-7 DAYS: While highs will hold in the low to mid 90s through Wednesday, heat levels will drop significantly across Alabama by the weekend (August 2-3); this is when highs will be in the 80s for most of the state.

Afternoon storms will remain rather isolated through, but they will increase in number over the latter half of the week as the upper ridge over the Deep South weakens.

7/27 3:45 pm: ☀️Heat Advisory through 9 pm Tuesday. For those not cooled by a shower or thunderstorm, the combination of heat and humid conditions will push heat indices as high as 105-110 degrees during the day. Muggy nighttime conditions will result in little relief for those with no or limited residential air conditioning.

Speaking of storms. In this sort of airmass, any that form could become strong with gusty winds, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall.
