It's the END OF AN ERA... 🟦🟥
On June 18, 2025 Beat Saber announced that they were dropping support for PlayStation consoles after a 7 year run on the platform. Many of you know how passionate about this game I've been over the years, running many PSVR streams both here on Facebook Gaming and transitioning later to Twitch where we had much less limitations. Many of you also supported my "Beat Saber Milestones" content on YouTube where I uploaded many of my Full Combo runs and some extra difficult first completions.
I've had almost a month now to sit with the decision by Beat Games and I've seen no good arguments FOR this move. IMHO knowing that the Beat Games studio is owned by Meta who also owns Oculus, and upon the leak that Oculus and Xbox have a collab VR system coming, this move to abandon PlayStation support seems purely financially motivated; they're looking to remove the competition. And they're discarding passionate VR fans on an entire platform in the process. I suspect that they think the PlayStation VR community will not only transition to an Oculus or Steam based platform, but we will continue purchasing new content as well as repurchase the hundreds of DLC songs already released, increasing their profits further.
Judging by the PlayStation community's response so far... Beat Games & META are mistaken.
Beat Saber is one of, if not THE best VR games on the market. But I cannot and will not further promote a game that has made the choice to abandon such a large portion of their community in such a way. So consider this is my official retirement announcement from Beat Saber VR streams. It was a blast chopping them blocks as the " #1 VR Grandpa on Twitch" for so long!
Thank you to all of my and that have supported my content, no matter what platform! This isn't the end. Just the end of an era. 💙💜❤️
