The state’s Attorney General Anthony Brown announced the suit Nov.6 against the Trump administration after it scrapped plans to move the bureau’s headquarters to Greenbelt, Maryland, and opted instead to keep it in Downtown D.C. Maryland leaders have been crying foul since the Trump administration formally announced its plan in July to move the FBI across the street to the Ronald Reagan Building, ignoring the site selection process of Congress and the General Services Administration, and the fact that Congress had already appropriated funds toward the Greenbelt relocation. Dominyece Gregory is a 32-year-old mother of two, with her own business — Tuft’n Up Studio & Social. Gregory has introduced a new form of art to the DMV area by teaching people how to tuft and create their own rugs. Tufting is a unique art that punches yarn through fabric or canvas to create a fluffy design, but to Gregory, it is much more than that....

Per a resolution passed by the county council in October, Hyattsville will implement 35 new stop sign cameras across the city. Stop sign cameras detect whether drivers approaching white stop lines come to a complete stop — meaning that there is a visible rock back and the car’s wheels stop moving entirely. Cameras use high resolution video and radar to capture images as a car approaches, and a photo after the car passes the stop line....

Students, organizers and residents celebrated their mutual growth in the final “Therapy Through Art” class at Friendship Arms Apartments last Tuesday. It was the last class for the four-week program, which featured two student artists guiding senior residents of the apartments in various art styles. “You really realize by doing this how similar people are, and that even though most of them are less experienced artists than we are, that they still have a lot to offer us,” Said Atiya Kingsland, a senior at Frederick Douglass High School who taught the class along with fellow senior at Northwestern High School Daphne Jackson....

The College Park City Council introduced an ordinance in October that would increase fines for city code violations, including construction, fire safety, housing, noise and unruly social gatherings. The proposal would update the city’s fine structure to align with a Maryland law that took effect Oct. 1 and allows municipalities to fine up to $5,000 for municipal infractions. A soft-spoken man with bare feet pads up to my chair and pulls five needles out from his apron. While coaching me to exhale, he gently inserts them into my outer ears — each one sending a little zing through my body. I take a cue from the others seated next to me in the circle and close my eyes. A strong gravitational pull draws me in and down....

A city-appointed committee in October urged the College Park City Council to address the harm done to the Lakeland neighborhood during urban renewal in the 1970s and 80s by offering financial compensation, housing priority and free college tuition. The 20-member Restorative Justice Commission, which the council established in 2022, also recommended creating a designation called Lakeland Legacy Members for those who lived in Lakeland for at least 10 years from 1969 to 1981, or for their direct descendants....

By Ruby Siefken and Lillian Glaros Federal officials have reversed a decision of the Hyattsville Immigration Court and welcomed reporters back inside – without permission from a public information officer to be there. On Friday morning, a Department of Justice office sent an email stating that immigration court hearings are “generally open to the public, including the news media.” Contrary to what local court officials said earlier this week, the email says that members of the media are not required to get permission from the Executive Office of Immigration Review before observing a hearing....
