We specialize in creating destination-focused travel content for tourism boards and brands. I am an adventure junkie who believes in trying everything TWICE! The first time we do things we sometimes let our fear, preconceived notions, or expectations decide how an experience will be. The second time, we live it! From jumping off buildings, riding a bull, white-water rafting and other adventures, I have gotten the bug for trying new things. Come along with me on my adventures from hiking and camping to showing ya'll where to find some country in Cali and checking out some local fun.

It’s been a fun past week soaking up the last bits of summer as we head into fall. So sad to be retiring the hiking carrier after this year but man we’ve had some good memories in it!

25 years ago 💔

I had just started my freshman year at Roosevelt University in downtown Chicago. I ironically had put on my “I Love NY” t-shirt that day and when I got in the elevator someone said “interesting choice for a shirt today”. I was confused.

Then I saw everyone gathered around the one tv in the lobby. After the second plane hit, we knew we were under attack. Being walking distance to the Sears Tower, we were told to evacuate and go to a friends or family’s house outside the city.

But as newbie freshman, a group of us didn’t know anyone in town or have anywhere to go. We were told “Put on running shoes and pack an emergency backpack in case you need to go”

We didn’t have tvs in our dorm rooms and we didn’t have cell phones to keep us updated or service to call loved ones. We pulled our chairs up to the window and watched the Sears Tower until we knew it was over. Never forget.

So much of what we see on social media is a highlight reel. And yet we use this to play the comparison game and create so called timelines of where we think we “should” be in life.

But in the words of Carrie Bradshaw “Why are we should’ing all over ourselves?”

Even these numbers are AVERAGES. I had my first kid at 39 and second at 41. I got married at 40. We’re debating selling our house to go back to renting to save money. Life is short and long! Don’t let fake timelines and comparison steal your joy or lead you down the wrong path because you assume you’re “out of time”. You’re just getting started!
