Larry Linville started his acting career at the Barter Theatre in Virginia. Early on, he guest-starred on popular TV shows like Bonanza, Room 222, Adam-12, and had multiple roles on Mission: Impossible. He also had a recurring role as Lieutenant George Kramer on Mannix. Linville appeared in TV movies such as The Night Stalker and had a small film role in Kotch (1971).
His most famous role was Major Frank Burns on MASH* (1972–1977), where he played a strict and often inept surgeon.
