A huge congrats to Lynn! She broke so many barriers for women in motorsports and continues to help the next generation.
A legacy cemented. A moment we’ll never forget.
Lyn St. James has been officially named to the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America Class of 2027—one of the highest honors in all of motorsports.
Announced at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, Lyn was in attendance as a leader in the sport—but in a powerful and emotional surprise, she was called to the podium as one of this year’s inductees. A full-circle moment for a woman who has spent her life not only competing in motorsports but transforming it.
She joins an extraordinary Class of 2027, representing the very best across every discipline:
• Gary Bettenhausen (Open Wheel)
• Ron Capps (Drag Racing)
• Rob Dyson (Sports Cars)
• Dale Earnhardt Jr. (Stock Cars)
• Herb Fishel (Business)
• Harry Hartz (Historic)
• Steve Hinton (Aviation)
• Angelle Sampey (Motorcycles)
• Robert Yates (Stock Cars)
A pioneer on track, Lyn made history as the first woman to win Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year (1992) and competed at the highest levels of racing—from IMSA victories at Sebring and Daytona to the 24 Hours of Le Mans. She pushed limits, set records, and proved—decades ago—what was possible.
But her legacy doesn’t stop at the checkered flag.
As Co-Founder of Women in Motorsports North America, Lyn has dedicated her next chapter to opening doors, creating access, and building a stronger, more inclusive future for the sport we all love. Her impact continues to be felt in every connection made, every career launched, and every barrier broken.
From breaking barriers… to building pathways.
This honor celebrates not just a career—but a lifetime of impact.
We are beyond proud to call her ours. đź’™
