Got the opportunity to cover Nils Jiptner for Hawkins Management Group. I'd never been to Feinstein's in Hotel Carmichael. Really classy venue.

Nils (pronounced Neels) moved to L.A. in the mid-80s. He started doing sessions as a rhythm guitarist. Over the years, he has worked with greats like George Clinton and the Temptations, and he co-wrote "Keep Rollin'" on Benson's 1998 album Standing Together, and the guitar legend returned the favor by recording a duet with Nils on Nils' 1998 debut CD Blue Planet; His solo career really took off in 2005 when his hit song "Pacific Coast Highway" stayed at #1 on the Radio chart for 11 weeks and was named by Billboard as the most heavily played track in the smooth jazz format over the past 15 years with over 30,000 spins. Several #1 Hits followed and established Nils as one of the driving forces in Contemporary Jazz today.

Had an amazing time covering the Free To Be Fest. My first time being at an event with the majority of folks being mixed race. So many interesting origin stories and the feeling of community was inspiring to say the least!

For those unfamiliar, Fox Lake in Angola Indiana was a segregated cottage community during a time when Blacks were not allowed into exclusive vacation resorts. So we made our own! About 80% of the homes are still Black owned and two years ago I got the opportunity to attend their annual celebration and get some drone footage of the area.

This was a random day I popped up at Echo Park, one of my favorite areas in LA. (circa 2017) This guy was busking and there's usually someone or several folks doing interesting things. Lots of restaurants and shops within walking distance and I highly recommend Masa for the deep dish pizza.

Going through the archives I realized I have so much content I have never shared over the last 15 years. Literally hard drives full of photo and video adventures. So I'm resolved to share daily.

This is Perris Reservoir in Riverside County in California. (2018) It's a part of the Inland Empire and has a rodeo facility close to it. A pretty small body of water. Like a lot of areas in Cali that get neglected when economics move out of the area you couldn't fish or swim because of water quality even though boating was still allowed. It became pretty magical at night especially when I stirred up the mob of seagulls. Nothing like desert sunsets too.
