At nine months old, Hunter Baughman's parents were told he had a zero percent chance of surviving bacterial meningitis. He's now finishing his sixth season as a professional angler on the National Professional Fishing League.
He barely mentions any of that in this conversation.
Jason talked with him about the work instead — six-day tournament weeks, water at 93 degrees, three daughters under six riding along in the truck, and what you actually do in the boat after you lose an eight-thousand-dollar fish.
There's a stretch about twelve minutes in where he talks about 2022. He didn't cash a check all year and wasn't sure he'd fish the next season. Then he won the last multi-day tournament on the schedule, and that bought him another year. Worth the watch on its own.
