Design work for Children of the Sun is coming along strong! ☀️ I’ve been deep in the business side of things lately, so no big reveals this week—but I have been exploring new ways to market the game. Here’s another look at the Sun god, Ino’itl. I’m really digging this close-up layout. It makes the character feel powerful and iconic. Thinking about using this style for some promo materials. Would love to hear your thoughts!

Dragon Powers!
In Children of the Sun, these special actions let you pull off some game-changing moves. I’m still working on the thematic artwork for them, but the action icons are ready!

See if you can guess which icon matches which action:
Elemental Rush, Creative Charge, Feathered Raze, Dawn’s Arrival, Evolving Light, Skyburst Roar, and Dragon’s Eclipse.

To find out what each power does, you’ll have to stay tuned! I’ll be revealing more game mechanics in the coming weeks, and hope to have the demo rulebook ready to share soon!

In Children of the Sun, the world you build isn’t just terrain—it’s alive!
🐒🪲🦎🐟🦅🐆

As you shape your landscape, you’ll also create up to six different Species to inhabit it. The more variety of Species you sustain, the more points you earn!

Each Species also has its preferred habitat. For every Terra card you create with a matching habitat, you gain valuable bonus points. (And if you’re lucky enough to draw the elusive Jaguar card—it’s wild and counts for any habitat!)

But balance is everything. Every Species you play needs Aqua to survive, so plan carefully and keep your ecosystem thriving.

Card Reveal: Tree of Life 🌳✨

The Tree of Life was the first Creation Card I completed, setting the standard for all the rest. I could go on for hours about the influences behind the style, but in the end, it ended up looking like a fantasy, doodled, Mayan/Aztec-inspired world.

The Tree of Life is a Source card—it generates Life resources each turn and earns 1 point per Species card at the end of the game.

With 35 unique cards to illustrate, there’s still a long road ahead. But I’m excited to dive into this artistic phase of production. After the cards come the Dragon Power artwork, then packaging and marketing—and just like that, the game’s new designs will be 100% complete!
