On June 6th, 1944 the Allied invasion of nazi-occupied France took place, known colloquially as D-Day. This mission was also referred to as Operation Overlord, and Reel Poppycock is honoring that important WWII event on its 82nd anniversary by covering the 2018 film "Overlord."

Trevor Boland considers himself an amateur World War 2 buff, and he was all too excited to cover another movie set during D-Day, as the Poppycock crew tackled "Saving Private Ryan" on this same date last year. "Overlord" is not the same type of genre re-defining classic that "Saving Private Ryan" is, but it is a semi-hidden gem, and well worth the watch. This podcast episode also delves deep into some lesser known aspects of true evil that the Axis nations of Germany and Japan would employ, while not sugarcoating some choices made by the Allies.

"Overlord" depicts Airborne troops, who have to fly through anti-aircraft fire, and then parachute into hostile territory. There is a lot of adherence to real historical events, but this movie *does* depict alternative history, and would that alternative version history prove too much to keep Ed Lanier from fully enjoying the film? And does K.C. Campbell think that Wyatt Russell, the son of their favorite Meat Shield, can pull off the same type of Meat Shielding as his father Kurt?

You'll just have to tune in to find out!

A friendly reminder that one can remain vehemently against the military industrial complex, while still honoring the personal sacrifices of the troops.

We're taking it way back to 1953, and touching on film noir with our new episode covering "Vice Squad."

Directed by Arnold Laven , K.C. rightly calls this flick out as being highly influential for "cop-a-ganda" style TV shows.

Trevor dives deep into two fascinating golden age stars in the Reel Basic Facts: gangster prototype Edward G. Robinson, m'yeah see; and Paulette Goddard, who Ed labels as an old-timey template for Kim Kardashian.

This is especially an episode where prior knowledge of the film being covered is unnecessary. Just settle in, have some fun with your hosts, maybe learn something, and tell us what film noir classics we may have left out in our discussion.

Thanks for checking it out, episode links in comments, have a great weekend!

Some movies are bad.
Some movies are so bad, that they're actually good, but it is a delicate balance.

How self-aware were the filmmakers? Do the filmmakers have talent, and how much budget was involved? Ultimately the most important question: is the final product entertaining?

A movie can be completely ridiculous, or full of Poppycock as we'd say, and still be heaps of fun at the same time.

Those qualifiers couldn't apply more to our new episode covering the 1994 sentimental bloodbath slash teenage romance monster movie "Tammy and the T-Rex."

Selected out of Reel Poppycock 's Black Hat, "Tammy and the T-Rex" was a fan suggestion from Liana Windhorst , and she absolutely nailed her pick! Denise Richards & Paul Walker "shine" is this early career gore-fest and oft forgotten about entry to their filmographies.

How will Ed Lanier , K.C. Campbell , and Trevor Boland deal with an animatronic dinosaur implanted with the brain of a teenage boy? You'll just have to listen to find out, enjoy!
