I was today’s years old when I started making my fridge work for me! I will stare at what’s in there and still not know what I have. Maybe you can relate.
I’m autistic and I have adhd. Object impermanence is real. I’m also prone to become distracted.
Here I used a large piece of scrapbook paper + sticky notes. It’s easy to replace sticky notes each week to plan meals. No, no, no. I don’t actually keep up with any meal planning.
I do write what we make as it happens.
I do write all the fresh ingredients down so I have a chance at eating them before they’ve gone bad.
I do write ideas for snacks or lunch because it’s a general struggle to decide each day.
I do write grocery items we need as they come up.
I do feel better eating leftovers if I’m certain of the day it was cooked.
I’m super picky and have a restrictive diet. You might be familiar with ARFID. That’s me. Food and I have a complicated relationship. Visual tools are super helpful for me and help me feel safer around food. That’s why I’m sharing this today.
Also noticing how beautiful some homes are while scrolling online I become disappointed with what I have. My kitchen is nothing glamorous. I’m not living a perfect life and I still have more to learn. I’m grateful for where I am but I want more out of life in some ways.
Social media is what we want others to see and it’s rarely representative of real life.
In fact…
Social media is NOT real life. I cannot count the number of fake accounts I see.
Before you compare yourself remember…
Their photos and reels are edited.
Their lighting is done professionally or a team is producing what you see.
Everything is staged and there were 100 more takes with perceived flaws before the final edit.
Love the life you’re in and find joy in simple moments. Scrolling gets old, get outside my friends. 💕
