Currently, ICE detainees are held at Bunker Hill's Miami Correctional Facility, a site plagued by systemic abuse and fatal neglect. Despite these tragedies, federal plans aim to increase detention capacity, forcing many families to self-deport out of fear for their safety.

Please join our community speakers for an evening of song, reflection, and candlelight. Together, we will send a clear message of unwavering support to every family impacted by ICE.

▪️Make no mistake, this “Mass Deportation Rally” held in Indiana today went deeper than advocating for deportations, it was pushing for an entire cleanse of the United States of anyone not White, Christian, and English speaking.

The banner next to their keynote speaker - former commander of the United States Border Patrol, Greg Bovino - read:

➡️“Providence has been pleased to give this one connected country to one united people—a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in their manners and customs.”

▪️A room full of White, Christian, (mostly) men clapped and applauded as Bovino claimed this is “our country”.

🇺🇸I remember feeling immense pride when learning that the USA was a melting pot of people. Our fourth grade musical was a recreation of immigrants coming to Ellis Island and how people from different cultures, languages, and religions came here in pursuit of the American dream. We learned that in America, there was no religious persecution. We learned there was no taxation without representation. We finished out that program by singing “This land is your land, this land is our land, this land was made for you and me”.

➡️In such a short time, a message like this would likely be labeled “indoctrination” by some and “radical” by others in today’s world.

❤️We love Tex-Mex. We love pizza. We love tacos. We love sushi. We love yoga. We love bagels. We love St. Patrick’s Day. We love Cinco de Mayo. We love Oktoberfest. We love Chinese takeout. We love Korean BBQ. We love jazz, blues, and hip-hop. We love freedom of religion.

➡️America has always been a patchwork of cultures, traditions, and ideas. This isn’t a flaw, it’s our greatest strength.

🚨I will not stand silent on a platform I have built, as leaders in our state preach White supremacy and Christian Nationalism, with words like “mass deportations” and “outside invaders”.

➡️Our government is being used to systematically dehumanize our neighbors, normalize cruelty, justify violence, and convince us that people who look, speak, worship, or live differently are threats.

▪️Immigration is a complex policy and humanitarian issue, and many things can be true at once. We can stand for a secure border and strong national security while also advocating for and working toward an immigration system that treats all people with respect and dignity.

▪️Our immigration process should be fair, draw on the strengths and talents of others, and help grow key job sectors while strengthening our economy. Deportations, when they occur, should be carried out according to the law, with due processes respected, and without private prisons profiting billions of dollars from the detention of people across the country. People should never be targeted because of their race or ethnicity, and the law should be applied equally to everyone.

▪️This rally was an embarrassment to the state of Indiana. Rather than focusing on real solutions, it centers on hatred, blame, division, and finger-pointing.

▪️We deserve leaders who advocate for the dignity and respect of all people, not leaders who evoke some of the darkest moments in our history, times when neighbors were turned against one another, prejudice was celebrated publicly, and white supremacy was openly embraced.

❤️Natasha Baker for Indiana Senate District 22

About Greg Bovino's mass deportation rally today (now moved from Fishers to Greenfield, reportedly)
01/08/2026

About Greg Bovino's mass deportation rally today (now moved from Fishers to Greenfield, reportedly)

➡️The First Amendment gives the organizers of the Mass Deportation Rally the right to hold their event.

➡️Their lack of courage ensures few will hear them.

➡️Tomorrow’s “rally,” at an undisclosed location, requires attendees to provide three references to prove they’re true believers.

➡️The speakers aren’t there to challenge or be challenged.
✅They’re there to prop up their own fragile egos (and collect $50 a ticket).

➡️Most won’t even appear in person; they’ll hide behind Zoom.

➡️This level of hiding and shame shows a shred of self‑awareness.
✅Maybe there’s something we can reach; not in everyone, but in some.

➡️If that self‑awareness grows they may show real courage.

➡️The courage to change.

➡️ Of course, if they stay this way, history will reduce them to footnotes.

➡️They will be forever known as bitter men who never had the courage to stand in the daylight.

❤️ Wear red to show solidarity and bring your signs ❤️

Join us on August 8th for a rally to urge Indianapolis city councilors to pass a data center moratorium when they meet on Monday, August 10th. We are thrilled to be joined by State Representative Cherrish Pryor and State Senator Andrea Hunley

Please visit citact.org/act.indy.dc.moratorium to encourage the Indy City-County Council and Mayor Hogsett to pass a data center moratorium via email.

In response to the overwhelming flood of data center proposals, cities and counties in Indiana and around the country are passing data center moratoriums. Moratoriums - or pauses on new data center development - give public officials the chance to craft reasonable policies and regulations that protect communities and our environment from the unprecedented impacts of these massive, resource-guzzling facilities.

In Indianapolis, the City-County Council will vote on a data center moratorium on Monday, August 10th at 7 PM. We’d love you to join us for this event as well!

Initially, the city was considering weak data center regulations that were more about streamlining the application process than protecting the people who live in and around where data centers want to locate. Fortunately, thanks to plenty of public pressure, the Indianapolis City-County Council's Metropolitan and Economic Development Committee rejected the proposed weak data center ordinance and replaced it with a moratorium on July 13th. The full City-Council now has to vote to approve the moratorium in order for it to be enacted.

You can learn more about the flood of data center proposals across Indiana - and the risks that come along with them - at citact.org/ai-data-centers

Shut down Miami Correctional Facility!

Our state holds approximately 600 immigrant men—the vast majority of whom have no criminal record-inside a state-run, maximum-security prison plagued by a staffing shortage, lack of medical care, and the tragedy of two detainee deaths earlier this year.

While officials chase "built-in profit" on a contract that appears to have lost taxpayer money, local families are torn apart, leaving traumatized U.S. citizens, family, and children in a desperate scramble tor basic survival

Because Miami Correctional is a state-run facility, this injustice belongs to every Hoosier.
