31 March, 2016 - Following a string of accolades from film festivals and screenings around the world, the highly anticipated documentary, The Wave I Ride: Paige Alms’ Story, will finally be available for all to enjoy. The 70-minute documentary, directed by award-winning filmmaker Devyn Bisson will debut on all major on demand platforms on April 29th.

The film chronicles the life of Maui charger Paige Alms, one of only a handful of female surfers in the world risking their lives to ride massive death-defying waves.

Researchers assessed sea level change scenarios using data from the U.S. Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Rip Curl in hot water over garment sourcing in North Korea....

20 February, 2016 - The Sydney Morning Herald is reporting that surf wear giant Rip Curl used workers in appalling conditions to make some of their 2015 winter line of clothing.

The Fairfax Media investigation puts into question Rip Curl’s garment sourcing practices at the Taedonggang Clothing Factory in North Korea.

The Sydney Morning Herald said that workers in North Korea are routinely exploited. “North Korean defectors have told investigators from NGOs, including Human Rights Watch, that employees are forced to work long hours with minimal or sometimes no pay. Workers who do not obey orders are imprisoned in work camps.”

When Fairfax Media informed Rip Curl of the practices in North Korea used to make thier clothing, the company's chief financial officer Tony Roberts released a statement that said the firm "takes its social compliance obligations seriously".

Rip Curl said the issue was the fault of a subcontractor who used the unauthorized facility.

5 January, 2016 - Atlanta - This year Surf Expo celebrates its 40th anniversary as the multi-billion dollar surfing industry’s largest and longest running tradeshow. The launch of the tradeshow in 1976 coincided with the establishment of pro surfing and a lifestyle that has captured the imagination of the world.

To commemorate its 40th anniversary, Surf Expo in January 2016 will be presenting a film and photographic exhibition of Bustin' Down the Door, a film that chronicles the rise of pro surfing and the emergence of the surfing industry over a tumultuous year in 1976.

23 November, 2015 - Ted Grambeau’s new project “the art of awareness – the rising sea level” debuts globally this week. The A-list photographer has created this personal photographic project to draw attention to rising sea levels and motivate surfers and the general public to do something about it.

“Two years ago, 730 sunrises ago, I made a personal commitment to creatively document this silent change - hence this photographic series - SEALEVEL,” said Grambeau. “Exploring the elements and interplay of the ocean before sunrise. Distilling the elements to a bare minimum to express a body of work that is purely abstract. Captured moments from nature’s rich pallet of colours, its subtle tones and myriad of hues reflecting the mood of each new day.”

28 September, 2015 - The International Surfing Association (ISA) has today expressed its delight at the decision by Tokyo 2020 to recommend to the IOC that Surfing is included on the Sports Programme for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The IOC will now take the final decision on the sports to be added to the 2020 Programme at the 129th IOC Session in Rio in August 2016.
