Thanks to the co-owners of Comics Place in Bellingham, WA, and co-founders of the POS System, Comic Shop Assistant, three additional scholarships will be provided to first-time attendees of the ComicsPRO industry meeting in Glendale, CA, February 18-21, 2026! This is in addition to the four scholarships funded by the Book Industry Charitable (Binc) Foundation. The funds, up to $1,500 per scholarship, may be used for travel, lodging, and meals; ComicsPRO will cover the registration fee for the meeting. The deadline to apply for the seven scholarships is Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, at 5 p.m. EST.

“We appreciate how ComicsPRO helps foster relationships between ourselves and other comic shops, all while pushing our industry forward,” said Jeffrey Figley, co-owner of Comics Place and co-founder of Comic Shop Assistant, both with Django Bohren. “We truly believe that inviting other stores to experience the annual meeting helps our industry get stronger, solves more problems, and will help anybody in this business remember why they love it.”

Bohren added that Binc helped pay his rent during the pandemic. “The simple way they asked, ‘are you in the comic industry? Would $1,000 help you pay rent?’ removed all my hang ups about needing to ask for help. We want to do that for shops who can use a boost getting to this critical annual event, and we are stoked that Binc can help.”

ComicsPRO is extremely proud to announce Robert Kirkman as the Keynote Speaker for the 2026 CoimcsPRO Industry Conference! "Robert has been instrumental in the growth of comic shops in the 21st century. First, by creating amazing stories for comics and then by bringing those stories to a wider audience through hit TV series," said ComicsPRO President, Joe Murray. "As Robert's profile has risen in the entertainment industry, his love and support for local comic shops has remained strong. We are beyond thrilled to welcome him to our 2026 Annual Meeting as the Keynote Speaker!"

Kirkman added, “I'm excited and tremendously honored to be delivering the keynote speech for ComicsPRO this year,” said Kirkman. “I previously spoke at ComicsPRO way back in 2010 and while my unwavering devotion to the direct market retail community has remained unchanged in that time, I hope I've gotten a little better at public speaking.”

ComicsPro is proud to announce Jim Shooter as the recipient of the 2025 ComicsPro Memorial Award. ComicsPro Member Stores were asked to vote for an individual who is no longer with us to be recognized for their significant contributions to Comic Book Retail and the Comics Industry as a whole.

Jim Shooter spent decades writing, editing and publishing comics. His work at Marvel and DC inspired many people working in Comics today and his work to launch publishers Valiant, Defiant, and Broadway helped to usher in a new generation of stories.

The list of industry professionals nominated for this award this year included legendary Comics Industry contributors Peter David, Ramona Fradon, and Archie Goodwin.
