I agree with most of what Dr. Evan's says about LBP here (but he did not say enough about results from physical therapy!). However, check out what is recommended for low back pain at the 9:20 mark (a screen shot below)..."MODIFY your workstation by taking small breaks and changing posture".

Isn't this what the XtensionDesk ALLOWS? I think so. Pass it on.

One of Physical Therapy's pioneers is concerned of society's postural epidemic. She is calling it, "Collapso-Smasho Syndrome”.

Don't worry Dr. Shirley Sabrmann, XtensionDesk is helping to battle the grunt work of postural collapse due to desk work.

What movements and exercises does a leading Physical Therapist consider essential to aging well? I recently had the pleasure of attending the Lower Quadrant Advanced Application course in Missouri and had the opportunity to ask the course instructor, Shirley Sahrmann, that question.

They say that sitting is the new smoking. 50th anniversary of Surgeon General's landmark report is today. Let's change the attitude towards prolonged sitting at work. Get involved with Xtension Desk and see how you can personally help your patients.

Government reports are published every day, and many are destined to go unread and unremembered. But 50 years ago, one plain, brown paperback helped launch a movement that has saved millions of lives.

Via Moroder et al 2011, "According to the literature, the sitting position is no longer considered as a risk factor for low back pain."
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21473452

I highly disagree. Maybe not as a short term, but over years of working: YES it is.

This statement from their abstract, "These data reveal a high prevalence of low back pain among students, which is rather alarming considering their young age."

Add years of work and years to life. Prolonged sitting is NOT good for you.

PubMed comprises more than 23 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. Citations may include links to full-text content from PubMed Central and publisher web sites.

Quote from Tissot et al 2009: "The results strongly suggest that freedom to sit down at will (being able to alternate postures) may be important in preventing LBP"

EXACTLY. If you want to prevent, and even treat spinal conditions, you need to have the availability to CHANGE positions regularly. Hence, the Xtension Desk.

F. Tissot , K. Messing & S. Stock (2009) Studying the relationship between low back pain and working
postures among those who stand and those who sit most of the working day, Ergonomics, 52:11, 1402-1418

Systematic Review (highest level of evidence) shows ergonomics for preventing or treating spinal pain are ineffective. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20360197

It is because we are trying to treat with devices to SIT differently! We have to get UP and MOVE more. Hence, the Xtension Desk

A recent 2013 study in the American Journal of Preventative Medicine showed people were 2.5 times likely to have increased waist circumference and 9 times more likely to have increased BMI based SIMPLY on sitting time during the work day. Want to lose weight for the 2014? Think about getting a stand-up desk, better yet, look into the XtensionDesk.
