Been a while huh?
Honestly it’s been pretty hectic here. The band is building more and growing (it’s truly exciting and makes me so happy) As a dad I’ve been trying to put focus on my son but as a husband and provider I’ve been also trying to discover what my interests are outside of music and martial arts.
Im back in school studying film and just trying to keep my head above water. Why film? To be totally honest it’s because the college of Communication Arts and Sciences was the easiest to get into with the credits I already have from MSU from a decade ago.
I just can’t stomach being the only person in my immediate family with out a college degree. I can’t go backwards in the family especially with having a child. How would I explain being the only dumb dumb in the family that went to college but never finished and just gave up.
Do I like film? Sure. Am I some cinephile who has dreams of making films? No, not even close. I’m more interested in learning the stuff so I can ease the financial burden of some things that a band like ours needs.
I have no fu***ng idea what I want to do outside of music, I’m really not very good at anything especially art lol. I can learn sure but if I am going to try and compare my talent or skills to my friends like Wombat Fire 1887 Media and others there’s zero comparison.
It’s been tough trying to study, do projects, work two jobs, be a dad, be a husband, learn to navigate growing celebrity, teach Judo, etc. The toughest part honestly has been trying to accept the fact that I just have no idea what I’m doing in class projects and coming to terms with knowing I’m just not good at this s**t but sticking with it because quitting school again isn’t an option.
“Well why don’t you choose a different major?” Like what? Lol. Listen I’m not very intelligent with some practical subject like say Math? I’m a fu***ng idiot with numbers. English? Have you seen how fu***ng ignorant I am with posts and how horrible my spelling and grammar is?
Do you really think I’m going to be somehow writing a book anytime soon with the amount of dummy I am with spellinf and grammar? Science? I tried that. Started as a Bio major at state back in 1999 but low and behold the ole broken brain is too dumb to understand maths and there was no way I was going to get to Calculus 4 by my junior year lol.
Not to mention I fu***ng hated 90% of the people in that program because it was about being rich to most of them with mom and dads money and not about truly just helping people and discovering science that can ease peoples pain.
I’m just feeling overwhelmed with the thoughts of why can’t I just settle with some mundane subject to study and succeed in outside of how passionate and intensely I feel about music? The more streams of income you have the better you can be financially.
Then again, Idk I just don’t do anything I do for money because I hate that s**t I just want to do cool s**t that enriches peoples lives and the money doesn’t matter to me but I also have to you know not live under a bridge with my wife and kid, lol.
That is my biggest hurdle learning to embrace a shrewd side of the human expience when it comes to finances etc. All I do know is this s**t is what makes me feel motivated and happy.

Have you checked out our newest Heartsick song CROWN? Cool. Now learn what it’s about another episode of Behind The Lyrics. 1887 Media
It is that time again. Another behind the lyrics. Making these has been really fun and we have honestly surprised that so many people enjoy them. Up on the agenda today is INDIGO. Which is one of the most important messages in a song we have written yet.
I (Alfonso) am not interested in writing about the same subject matter. I am always looking to write things that are compelling be it personal, world issues, or fun stories. Little did I know just how important this song has now become given the supreme courts decision on abortions.
I truly with my whole heart believe in our need to advance as a society and need to give women the voice they have always had and protect women within every society on earth. I am hoping that having more introspect on this song will help some of you gain a better understanding on why we must continue to fight along side our mothers, daughters, sisters, etc.
Big thank you to 1887 Media Hudson Entertainment, LLC Shane Pitmon for always working so hard on these!
