WKING News' Keashu King had the pleasure of accompanying my baby sister, Ashley King Armstrong to one of her favorite spots in Metairie on today. Big sis, Towanda King-Taylor completed the trip.

Ashley brings us products from here often but we finally got the opportunity to go together on today. The service is amazing. It's a great vibe and you can taste to see what suits your taste. This quaint business is Old Metairie Olive Oils and Vinegars. I recommend it to each and every one reading our post!! We give it FIVE ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

May the work he's done SPEAK for him | WKING News is remembering our dear cousin, Louisiana State Senator Larry Selders - Gone too soon...

As an educator and content creator, words are usually the last thing I struggle with—verbal or written. But today… I am speechless & heartbroken again. 😔💔
I’m truly over 2026, and that is the God’s honest truth. 🙏🏽 I'm never questioning God nor am I mad with my father in Heaven. I am just hurting from the losses I've personally and collectively with family & friends have endured lately.

The grief we’ve been enduring is heavy and sometimes feels unbearable. 🕊️

As tough as life has been since my mom’s passing on March 19th, we now find ourselves mourning the loss of yet another family member. 💔

Cousin Louisiana State Senator Larry Selders was truly an amazing guy. He knew his stuff and refused to be silent about what matters. His love for his wife, children, family, and friends was the beautiful light so many of us wish everyone showed. ✨❤️
No matter the table he sat at or how big the chairs were—Cousin Larry belonged at each and every one. 🙌🏽

and countless others are sharing memories across the internet. 📲
I pray God sends down favor, compassion, understanding, and comfort to everyone who is hurting. 🙏🏽🕊️

We loved you, cousin… but God loves you best. See you when I get there. PLEASE Kiss mom for us and all of our other loved ones who are there with you in Heaven. You've done incomparable works on this earth and finished your course! Well Done cousin! 😢🌹

Today, I am grieving. Like so many others, my heart is broken over the tragic loss of Nolan Wells. From everything I've seen, he trusted the people he believed cared about him. I don't believe he ever imagined his life would end this way. My prayers are with his family, his loved ones, and every person who is carrying the weight of this unimaginable loss.

As a mother, educator, aunt, mentor, and someone who loves young people with all my heart, I refuse to ignore the reality our children are living in. Every time another young life is taken, another family is forever changed.

If you've followed me for any length of time, then you know I don't shy away from difficult conversations. God gave me a voice, and I will continue to use it to speak for those whose voices have been silenced.

Here's what I want everyone to understand: I speak out against injustice no matter who the victim is. I don't believe justice has a color. When someone is wronged, I will stand for what is right.

At the same time, I will never stop asking why our Black and Brown children don't always receive that same level of outrage, compassion, or advocacy. Every child deserves to be seen. Every child deserves to be protected. Every child deserves justice.

If my advocacy makes some people uncomfortable, I can accept that. My purpose has never been to make people comfortable. My purpose is to love, to tell the truth, and to stand for equality. I don't hate anyone because of the color of their skin, and I never will. But I will continue to confront racism, injustice, and inequality wherever I see them because silence has never changed anything.

To those of every race who consistently stand beside us and speak up for all children, thank you. Your compassion, courage, and willingness to stand for what's right matter more than you know.

To every parent reading this: Please have the hard conversations with your children. Teach them empathy, accountability, and the value of every human life. We cannot wait until tragedy reaches our own doorstep before we decide to care.

My prayer is that justice is served. My prayer is that this family finds strength through God's grace. And my prayer is that we become a people who value every child—not just when it's convenient, not just when it's someone who looks like us, but every single time.

May God wrap His loving arms around Nolan Wells' family and everyone whose heart is broken today. May He comfort them, strengthen them, and remind them that they are not alone.

Justice. Equality. Love. Those are the things I will continue to stand for.

📰👑 WKING NEWS | KING DAY 2026: A Legacy of Love, Family & Tradition ❤️🤍💙

KING DAY 2026 was 🧨 DYNAMITE! 🇺🇸🎉 Every year on July 4th, the King Family comes together to celebrate the incredible bond that has kept our family united for generations.

This year's celebration was nothing short of amazing! From the delicious food 🍗🍔🌭 to the laughter 😂, fellowship ❤️, games 🎯, and unforgettable memories 📸, we truly had a blast. Most importantly, everything was done with decency and in order, making the day enjoyable for everyone in attendance.

One of the most beautiful traditions of King Day is the way we honor the original siblings & spouses. They are the foundation of this family, and every year their children and grandchildren make sure they are treated like the royalty they are. 👑 They never have to stand in line for a plate or even a soda—we happily serve them because they have spent their lives serving and sacrificing for us. It is our way of saying, "Thank you. We love you."

Family traveled from near and far 🚗✈️ just to be together, proving once again that distance can never break the bond we share. Every smile, every hug, and every conversation reminded us just how blessed we are.

One of the most meaningful parts of our gathering continues to be our Memory Board and Photo Table, lovingly prepared by Gwen for many years, along with the beautiful family backdrop she faithfully creates each year. 💐📷 It gives us an opportunity to honor and remember those who have gone on to be with the Lord. Sadly, each year another cherished name seems to be added. This year, that name was Mom's. 💔 None of us could have imagined seeing her picture among those we were remembering. While the loss is still so fresh, we found strength in knowing how much she loved King Day and how she would have wanted us to continue this treasured tradition. We miss her—and all of our loved ones—more than words can express, but their legacy continues to live on through each of us.

👏🏾 WKING NEWS would like to give a huge shoutout to Michelle and Gwen for once again driving the ship and making sure everything came together beautifully. Thank you for your tireless dedication, organization, and love. Thank you for allowing me to help steer every now and then! ❤️ Thank you to my great-niece, Chloe Taylor and Cousin Keith Vereen for the heartfelt prayers. "A family that prays together, stays together!" 🙏🏾🙏🏾

A heartfelt thank you also goes out to every committee member who volunteered their time, talents, and energy to make this year's King Day such a tremendous success. Your hard work did not go unnoticed.

We are especially proud of the next generation, who stepped up in a big way this year. Watching our young family members take ownership, serve faithfully, and carry their share of the responsibilities reminds us that the King Family legacy is in good hands for years to come. 💪🏽❤️

🎉 A very special shoutout goes to Pastor Burnett King, Sr., who did an outstanding job supervising the cleanup crew and helping bring the day to a successful close. Thank you for your leadership and willingness to serve!

And finally... let's hear it for the grill masters! 🔥🍖 The men who stood outside in the summer heat cooking for everyone deserve a standing ovation. Your hard work, dedication, and delicious meals helped make the day unforgettable. WKING News proudly applauds each of you! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

To everyone who cooked, baked, decorated, donated, organized, served, cleaned, prayed, laughed, hugged, and simply showed up—THANK YOU. Because of each of you, King Day continues to be more than a family reunion. It is a celebration of faith, love, heritage, service, and generations united.

Until the next event... may God continue to bless the King Family. ❤️👑

🎓🧑🏽‍🎓👩‍🎓👨🏾‍🎓🎓🎓 What an AMAZING day! 💛💜

Today, I had the honor of accompanying one of my ACT Prep & College Prep students, Brianna Leggett, through another important step in her college journey to LSU. As many of you know, I don't just help my students prepare for the ACT or get funding through scholarships for college—I walk alongside them throughout their entire college process.

Brianna is the Valedictorian of the East Feliciana High School Class of 2026. She has been recognized and celebrated by numerous organizations, her peers, the East Feliciana Parish School Board, and is a proud recipient of the prestigious Gates Scholarship. Her list of accomplishments continues to grow, and I couldn't be prouder.

Watching my students succeed never gets old. Every student I've mentored through this process has graduated from college on time, and several have even gone on to earn their Master's Degrees. Seeing Brianna begin this next chapter reminds me why I do what I do.

Just when I thought the day couldn't get any better, I ran into Derrick Wright, who was accompanying his cousin, E'Rondric Goss, through orientation as well. E'Rondric is also one of the Top Five Honor Graduates from the East Feliciana High School Class of 2026, and he and Brianna have been great friends throughout their school years. It truly blessed my heart to see these young people continuing to excel together.

And the blessings didn't stop there!

While attending the Orientation Fair, I learned that, another outstanding East Feliciana High School Alumni, Cierra Irvin was working in the Residential Life table. Cierra Irvin recently graduated from LSU in May and, without taking any time off, has already enrolled in her Master's Degree program! She also happens to be my McManus neighbor. We didn't get a chance to take a picture because she was busy doing her job, but I wanted to recognize her excellence by including one of her LSU graduation photos from Spring 2026.

WKING News is claiming nothing but greatness for these three outstanding East Feliciana High School graduates!

Brianna and E'Rondric, I'll be sitting in those stands cheering loud and proud when you walk across that stage in May 2030!

CiCi, I'll be right there celebrating you when you earn that Master's Degree—whichever semester in 2028 you finish. Knowing you, you're taking summer classes too, so I know it won't be long!

Our community is producing excellence, and I thank God for allowing me to play a small role in these students' journeys. I PURPOSE TO ALWAYS use what God gave me intellectually and in my heart to be part of THE VILLAGE. I love the kids. Jesus loves the children of the world.

GO TIGERS! 💜💛🐯
