On this Mother's Day, despite the bittersweet emotions that accompany it, we want to express our deepest gratitude to all the mothers out there. Today holds a special significance for many, including me, WKING News' Keashu King, who, along with my siblings, is experiencing our first Mother's Day without our beloved mother, Betty King.

It's heartwarming to see how, even in the absence of our mother, our children went above and beyond to make the day special. The tears shed today serve as a poignant reminder of the profound impact a mother has on her family. Nothing is normal anymore. We miss her dearly. Adrienne, Ashlynn, and Jacelyn truly went all out.

We also extend our heartfelt wishes to Brandy Allen Giroir, a neighbor who recently passed away, leaving behind a grieving family. Our thoughts are with her children, husband, parents, in-laws, and friends during this difficult time. Brandy and her family were/are the absolute best neighbors we could have ever asked for and we miss her dearly.

As we navigate through this emotional day, let's take a moment to cherish the memories we hold dear and find solace in the love and support of our families and friends. Daddy was right there with us. We always make sure he is okay.

Sending strength and love to all those who are missing their mothers today and honoring the mothers who are no longer with us. May their legacies live on in our hearts forever.

Today, we extend our heartfelt well wishes to our Uncle Sidney "ROY" King on his 70th Birthday. Uncle Roy holds a special place in all of our hearts, as the youngest among of the aunts and uncles. He has been a pillar of support, a source of wisdom, and a beacon of love in our lives. His attentive listening, fervent prayers, and individual connections with each of us have made a lasting impact.

As we reflect on Psalm 90:10, which states, "The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away," we are grateful that Uncle Roy has reached this significant milestone of three score and ten. May God continue to bestow upon him strength, happiness, and good health for many more years to come.

Uncle Roy, your unwavering love and intentional care do not go unnoticed. You are a blessing to all who know you, and we are privileged to celebrate this special day with you. Yesterday we embarked on a road trip to Shreveport, Louisiana to witness an extraordinary game and it was an unforgettable experience. The weather was perfect, the company was delightful, our accommodations were superb, and the food was delicious.

Our nephew, Cor'Darius, showcases his talent playing for Salina Liberty . Salina Liberty traveled from Kansas to compete against Louisiana Rouxgaroux. Although, Cor'Darius was not able to play due to injury, we enjoyed the weekend. We are thrilled to announce that Salina Liberty emerged victorious! CD55 will be back on the field next week. This was the first time in Cor'Darius career since peewee league that he missed a game due to injury. God is still great in the midst of it all.

This morning, we bid our farewells and arrived back home safely. Cor'Darius, we are immensely proud of your success and the remarkable achievements you have attained. We eagerly anticipate the arrival of the baby in October. You and Amber are deserving of this blessing. Our love for you and Amber knows no bounds. Your accomplishments have been recognized by WKING News for years, and we are one of your biggest fans. We will be tuning in to watch your next game on Prime next week.

We are thrilled to share the outstanding news that ANIJAH "MUFFIN" DUNN will be graduating from Southern University at New Orleans! The commencement exercises are scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the prestigious UNO Lakefront Arena in New Orleans, Louisiana.

ANIJAH is the daughter of Londa Brown. ANIJAH is the sibling to DarLayshia "Sugga" Dunn and NyTreniah "Puddin" Dunn. ANIJAH has distinguished herself as a first-generation graduate, paving the way for future achievers. She will be earning her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with HONORS.

In a recent conversation with WKING News, ANIJAH expressed that her family was the driving force behind her unwavering dedication and hard work throughout her academic journey. She shared, “I did it for my family, I know they’re proud of me.”

BRIANNA LEGGETT is graduating from East Feliciana High School in Jackson, Louisiana. Commencement Exercises will be held on May 14, 2026 at 6:00 PM at East Feliciana High School.

BRIANNA is the daughter of Samantha Leggett and Brian Williams. She is the sibling to Donovan Leggett and Zaiden Mitchell

It is with great pride and admiration that we announce Brianna's exceptional achievements throughout her high school career. As a dedicated student, Brianna has consistently excelled academically, earning a spot on the Principal's List each semester and being recognized as "Student of the Month" annually. Not only has she demonstrated academic prowess, but Brianna has also made a significant impact in extracurricular activities.

Brianna's passion for STEM education shines through her role as the EFHS Afterschool STEM Ambassador and Louisiana Representative for the United States STEM Next Flight Crew. These positions have allowed her to showcase the importance of out-of-school learning and inspire curiosity in STEM fields. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed, as she has been given the opportunity to speak on major platforms and has been acknowledged by state officials for her contributions.

In addition to her STEM advocacy, Brianna has received several notable honors, including Human Calculator, EFHS Senior Class President, and Co-Captain of the Varsity Cheer Team. Her commitment to academic excellence, positive citizenship, and leadership qualities have set her apart as a role model within the school community.

Most recently, Brianna has been selected as one of the prestigious 2026 recipients of The Gates Scholarship, the highest honor bestowed upon seniors in the country. This recognition is a testament to her unwavering dedication and outstanding achievements.

Furthermore, Brianna actively participates in clubs such as Yearbook, BETA, and SADD, further showcasing her commitment to personal growth and community involvement.

Brianna's next stop is Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She will pursue a degree in Computer Science with a concentration of Software Engineering.

When asked what was the best part of high school experience, BRIANNA replied, "The best part of my high school experience was building connections with people who I now view as my family, undergoing life together and continuously learning as I grow."
