Join the Diehl Gallery for an opening reception celebrating Chris Maynard's Between Earth and Sky on Thursday, August 21st from 5-8 pm.

Chris Maynard’s first solo exhibition at Diehl Gallery, Between Earth and Sky, offers a mesmerizing exploration of nature’s delicate balance through the artist’s extraordinary feather-based work. Maynard, known for his intricate manipulation of feathers, transforms these often overlooked organic materials into works of profound beauty and meaning. Each piece in the exhibition reveals the artist’s masterful craftsmanship, as he uses feathers to create meticulously detailed patterns and forms that evoke a sense of flight, freedom, and the ephemeral nature of life.

Check out this awesome project from Wyoming Untrapped!

"Our Wild Journeys Interactive Map is an immersive, web-based story map that brings our downtown Jackson mural to life and invites exploration across three beautifully crafted panels. Each section combines art, culture, and scientific insights to illuminate Wyoming’s diverse wildlife, vibrant habitats, and rich human histories.

Interactive hotspots let you zoom in on wolves coordinating a hunt at dawn, marvel at pronghorn speeding across sagebrush flats, and observe elk in their seasonal rituals. You can read intimate accounts from a Wyoming ranch family’s long-standing wildlife partnership, tribal elders sharing ancestral conservation wisdom, and field researchers mapping shifting migration routes. Dynamic overlays trace habitat corridors as they evolve through seasons and decades, revealing the real-world impact of conservation efforts and environmental change.

By weaving art with education, Wyoming Untrapped champions humane wildlife policies, fosters empathy for all living beings, and inspires every visitor to lend their voice. and actions, to preserve the wild spirit of our state." 🐾

Join History Jackson Hole for a talk with celebrated scholar Philip J. Deloria on Thursday, August 14, 6:30-7:30 p.m on the museum deck. This event is free and open to the public, and promises to be absolutely fascinating.

His impactful work explores inquiries like: Why do Native American people feel it important to remind others that “we are still here”? How did the massive land transfer from tribes to the United States take place, and how might we render an honest accounting of its costs and benefits? How should we understand the unique political status of tribal nations?

Philip J. Deloria, the Leverett Saltonstall Professor of History at Harvard University, will explore these questions and more. Deloria will offer an overview of issues surrounding Native American people in relation to the United States, looking closely at new histories, innovations in Native arts and cultures, and the emergent world of global indigeneity.
