From crisp mountain rivers and dry flies to gazpacho, Chacos, and the glory of a short high-elevation summer, David Porter knows how to make the most of the season.

A longtime JHStyle contributor, David brings his thoughtful eye to two stories in the Summer/Fall 2026 issue: one on the origins and philosophy behind JH Still Works, and another on the tireless advocacy of immigration attorney Rosie Read.

We caught up with him to talk fly fishing, favorite summer rituals, essential mountain gear advice, and where he goes to reset.

Today, we’re giving the spotlight to one of the mountains’ most charming residents: the marmot. Often spotted sunning on rocks or keeping watch from alpine meadows, these sturdy little creatures are a delightful reminder to slow down, look closely, and appreciate the quieter characters of the wild.

Today, we pause to honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Here in Jackson Hole, Memorial Day often marks the unofficial start of summer — a weekend of gathering, exploring, and celebrating the season ahead. But at its heart, this day asks us to slow down and reflect with gratitude on the sacrifice behind the freedoms we enjoy.

From all of us at JHStyle, wishing you a meaningful Memorial Day.

Memorial Day Weekend in Jackson Hole is bringing the full Old West Days lineup — and there are a few signature events you won’t want to miss.

On Saturday, May 23, celebrate Western heritage and community spirit at the Best of the West Parade, then raise a glass at Old West Brewfest. On Sunday, May 24, head to Town Square for the Million Dollar Music Fest, featuring a free country concert with Hudson Westbrook, Avery Anna, and Neal McCoy.

From parade floats and cowboy culture to craft beer and live music under the Tetons, this is one of Jackson Hole’s favorite ways to kick off summer. See you there!

Sun-drenched trails, smoky bites off the grill, sour gummy worms, Stephen King, and “just one more mile” energy.

In our latest Behind the Pages feature, writer Phil Lindeman shares what summer in the mountains means to him — from biking, hiking, rafting, and stargazing to the imperfect-but-beautiful weather that keeps us all on our toes.

You’ll also find Phil’s work in the Summer/Fall 2026 issue, where he celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the Jackson Hole One Fly tournament and explores the thriving local antique and vintage scene.
