As winter approaches, we are so grateful for your interest in donating cold weather gear to those in need! To help meet these needs, JIS partners with local organizations to make sure our clients are cared for. Rather than bringing winter items to the shelter, we ask you to redirect these to non-profits that specifically focus on providing clothing during the winter months—such as Together We Can Make A Difference and St. Vincent de Paul Jackson. Then, as needs arise at the shelter, these organizations will provide us with the items we need.

Right now, you can also donate to the Mitten & Hat Drive at the Jackson YMCA! They are accepting new cold weather gear items through October 29 for their distribution day on the 30th at their Fall into Reading event.

Thank you for your generosity in making sure those in need within our community are cared for! See the full details of the mitten and hat drive at

Wow! An unexpected surprise, they are installing the accessible kayak dock today. The guys say it will be in for about a month and then they will take it out to store over the winter. So bring your own kayak and come give it a try. This is a public kayak launch.

I am reaching out today with confirmation of more exciting opportunities to practice yoga coming the last week of October with the opening of Jackson School of the Arts (JSA) newly renovated building downtown (formerly Vermeulen's).

Beginning October 25, I will be leading ongoing lunchtime classes every Monday and Thursday from 12:10-12:55 PM.

Beginning October 27, our outdoor Evening Yoga in the Park class will move indoors to continue practicing each Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 PM.

All JSA classes are priced on a monthly basis, with one weekly class per month at $35 or two weekly classes per month at $50. With lots of new adult classes being added at this expanded location, you may be interested in enjoying a variety of JSA offerings. Registration and payment should be made through Jackson School of the Arts by visiting their website at or calling 517.784.2389 (you must call to receive the two-class discount).

Attached is a flyer with all of the details. Please feel free to share this information and help us get the word out about this wonderful opportunity to engage yoga and the arts in Jackson. I sincerely appreciate your ongoing support and hope to see you in class soon

🕵️ #BrightSpotsHunt DAY ONE. Here is your 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗘!

Remember, clues to each new location will consist of word problems, picture challenges, puzzles, and beyond. While knowledge of the #JacksonMI area will help, it is not necessary. Each clue will come with an optional hint, and participants may always text 866-839-8597 for extra help. Complete the hunt and all the challenges for a chance to win one of three daily prizes.

Clues will lead participants to shops, restaurants, and more across Jackson, but they will never need to enter a place of business and can complete all challenges outdoors. A smart phone, and pencil/paper may be helpful!

Presented by The Protection Center

Official Rules:

1. Clues and challenges are to be read and photographed, but participants should never take, alter, or move them from their locations.

2. Each route must be completed on the same day it is posted.

3. All challenge photos/videos must be posted by 8:00 p.m. each day and tagged with #BrightSpotsHunt.

4. When sharing your photo & video submission, ensure your post is set to public.

5. All photos/videos must be appropriate for the public (no nudity, swearing, violence, etc.)

6. Participants should have a smartphone or other data-enabled device to complete the hunt. Transportation will be necessary. Paper and pencil are recommended, but not provided. While challenges will not require physical fitness, we do recommend wearing comfortable clothes and sensible shoes due to the variety of terrains, locations, and movements.

Congratulations 🎉 best wishes!

Congratulations 🎉 best wishes!

I want to take a moment and let everyone know what’s happening at P&T.
After nearly 40 years in the cycling and fitness equipment business I’m retiring. It’s always been my goal to have the business continue on for both the Guys that I’ve worked with for so long and you, who have supported us for so many years. Well yesterday I think we accomplished it. With a lot of mixed emotions, tears and excitement we closed on a deal to have P&T join the D&D Bicycles team. A family owed south Michigan company with 8 stores now. Don and his 5 amazing kids who help run the business want to continue on with what we have accomplished over the years. Actually because of their size and more then 40 years in the business They’ll be able to offer so much more than I ever could. I’m also very excited about the new home for my Guys.
While I’ll definitely miss the day to day and the relationships established with every one of you over the years Sally and I are very excited about this next phase of our lives.
I will be at P&T 3 days a week for the next 5-6 weeks. If you have any questions or thoughts you’d like to share please call or stop by
