Just a gentle reminder that we are still collecting Christmas cards for residents in our local nursing homes. Our goal is to collect at least 400 cards.

Please have your cards to the radio station before 4:00 p.m. December 17th.

Prayers would be appreciated. Our Operations Director, John Paul Little, has informed us that engineers have said there are major problems with the antenna cable which is used to transmit the voices or KBJS pastors and teachers to you radio at home and in your vehicles. Our consultants have told us that about 150 ft of this cable MUST be replaced at a cost of $14,000.00.

We need to take care of this issue as quickly as possible and are asking you to prayerfully consider giving a special gift to meet this URGENT $14,000.00 need. Until this cable is replaced we are forced to operate on an old standby unit rather than the digital system you are accustomed to hearing.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support.

Luke 2 contains what is commonly referred to as the "Christmas Story" that so many of us are familiar with. Even the character, Linus, quotes it in the "Charlie Brown Christmas". It's my favorite part of the show to be honest. The Book of Luke contains twenty-four chapters and chapter 24 recounts the Resurrection and Ascension.

If you begin Reading a chapter a day on December 1st then you can finish the book on Christmas Eve. What better way to celebrate the birth of the Savior than to read about WHY He came to begin with. In Luke 2 we read that God came as a human, Emmanuel, to dwell among us in the personhood of His Son Jesus. Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life only to suffer and die to atone for our sins. He defeated death and proved that he IS God by rising from the dead. It's in that hope that we trust and believe in God's gift of grace through faith in Jesus. If we repent and believe in what JESUS did then we will one day live eternally with Him. What better way to celebrate Christmas than to remember the whole account of a promise kept by his birth as well as remembering the hope we have in The Gospel message.

Today is the first day of Advent and we celebrate the HOPE we have in the promised Messiah by lighting the first purple candle. This is known as the "hope" or "prophecy" candle.

The dictionary defines hope as, “a feeling of expectation and desire for a certain thing to happen.
The first candle lit on the Advent wreath, symbolizes the hopeful anticipation of Christ's arrival and the fulfillment of God's promises.

From Genesis 3 when God promised a Savior for all mankind; to Isaiah 7:14; Isaiah 9:6; and when that promise was repeated by the Angel Gabriel in Matthew 1:23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us). Isaiah 53 is also a great example of a passage foretelling the coming Messiah and what His sacrifice would mean for the world.

We can look forward in hope, confidently anticipating Christ’s return and the fulfillment of his promises to live with us forever (Rev. 21:3).

Sunday morning church is a Saturday decision. There is still plenty of time to prepare and prayerfully limit your chances of "Sunday morning sabotage".

1. set out your Bibles, bags and purses
2. prep an easy breakfast ahead of time
3. set out outfits today before bed; down to the shoes so you or the kiddos don't have to "hunt" in the morning
4. Invite a friend who doesn't have a church home to join you
5. pray for your pastor, worship leader, tech crew and Sunday School teachers
6. get to bed early for a good night's rest
7. read your Sunday School lesson ahead of time to be ready for discussion
8. read the sermon passage ahead and be prepared to take notes
