STRUCTURE FIRE @ 200BLK BAGANIE LN, CHEROKEE COUNTY - 11/28/2023

At 10:03PM, on Tuesday, November 28th, 2023, Smith County ESD2's Bullard Fire was toned out to assist Cherokee County with a residential structure fire. Immediately, Bullard Fire requested a "Box Alarm," adding Battalion 1, Flint-Gresham Fire, Whitehouse Fire, and Troup Fire. Lake Palestine East Volunteer Fire Department of Cherokee County and UT EMS were also dispatched.

Upon arrival, Bullard Engine 1 reported a working structure fire, with heavy fire coming from the garage. Bullard Engine 1 started a fire attack near the garage and advised the next arriving unit, Flint Engine 161, to start fire suppression at the front of the house.

Firefighters faced the challenge of needing an extremely high volume water supply that included shuttling tanker trucks back and forth to refill with water and return to the scene. The relentless fire had compromised the entire attic resulting in a roof collapse. This collapse created an unsafe environment for firefighters to enter, so fire operations were transitioned to be defensive.

The single occupant of the home escaped safely, and no injuries were reported on scene. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is handling investigations of the fire. Fire crews were cleared from the scene just before 3AM.
