Had a wonderful housewarming party last night. 💕
The friends and food would have been enough of a gift, but two special presents really stick out for the history of our home.
Our dear friend Gary Dempsey made a doll bed and truck for our kids, a serving tray and cutting board all from the 175-year old heart pine leftover from our remodel.
Most impressive was a picture frame he made containing Confederate money that once belonged to the Carpenter family that lived here.
Passed down through generations- it is back home !

Thankful for the rain. Now we can start cleaning up the grounds without having to worry about burning down the woods.

Just found this treasure in a secretary we had purchased that belonged to Louise Frederick Hays (Mrs. J. E. Hays)director of the Georgia archives. So cool to see the Secretary of State letterhead… and the boy who wrote it became a cardiologist - Dr. J. Harper Gaston IV.
