Every day is a battle to just get out of bed. The crushing loss of two of my boys is something I carry and often it is far too heavy of a burden for me. I strive to help others with posts, kind words, a friendly smile or just being polite holding a door. I realize my path is to help others while I feel like I live in a personal prison. God wants me to show others, through my actions and perseverance, that faith and trust can help me and others push forward.
I have a go to movie that helps me when I am very down. A movie that I can relate to. A movie that connects with me on the battle that rages with my faith after the loss of Cole and Callahan. The movie is about the story of Brandon Burlsworth and is titled Greater. The trailer for the movie is located here: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?ref=search&v=10153893067538741&external_log_id=5e14aa25-7166-4305-8600-f5341f671e11&q=%40greater%20brandon%20bullsworth
I watched the movie after the loss of my middle son Cole. It hit home so much harder after losing my son Callahan to a semi truck accident nearly two years ago, as that is how Brandon passed. Most of times I watch the movie are when I am at my hunting camp, where so many memories and dreams I have for my boys live on.
Just over a week ago I was watching the moving, tears flowing down my face, as I continued my battle with good and evil within my head. I decided to reach out to the Burlsworth family and sent a message to Marty Burlsworth and the https://www.facebook.com/BrandonBurlsworthFoundation . It wasnt for advice, help or anything other than to just say thank you for their message through the movie that has helped me so much. Long story short Vicky Burlsworth messaged me back and asked if Marty could speak with me. It was a kind gesture and I was beyond humbled.
We spoke about the battle of spreading a positive message in a world of troubled times. We shared our own stories of faith and the struggles to push forward. Marty is a kind man with a great message that is helping so many others. The movie will speak to you and I strongly suggest giving it a watch, as well as supporting their great foundation.
I miss my boys daily, hourly and honestly every second of my days. Please give your kids a big hug, talk to them, listen to what they say and hear what they are telling you.
Thank you Marty and Vicky Burlsworth for the time and kind words. God Bless your family and the work you are doing.
The Brandon Burlsworth Foundation was established in honor of the late Brandon Burlsworth.
