Laurin & I had the privilege of spending time in Illinois with my Uncle Terry & Aunt Judy a few weeks ago.

They live in a small town right where the Mississippi & Missouri Rivers join each other. It is beautiful and when I’m there I’m always amazed and the majesty of God’s natural creation.

There are some people in your life that never push themselves on you but rather pour into you. My Uncle Terry has always been one of those people.

When I left coaching as a profession and was trying to figure out how my skill sets would translate to a different world, Terry helped me recognizing what I had to offer that others would value.

Over 20 years ago when Laurin brought the idea of buying a business and exiting corporate America to me, Terry was the one I called to get his take. He has been a successful entrepreneur his entire life and I love the way he has helped guide me. Never telling me what to do, but rather what to consider and letting me come to my own conclusions.

Since then, anytime I’ve had a big life move in business TC has always been my first phone call after my discussions with Laurin.

As I’ve grown older, I’ve come to recognize what an immense role he, and my Aunt Judy, have played in the symphony of our lives.

They are strong believers and followers of Christ as well as successful entrepreneurs and I am so blessed and thankful for having them in my life.

Life’s journey is rarely a straight, smooth road—it’s a winding path marked by obstacles, setbacks, and lessons that shape who we become.

Along the way, challenges often emerge in the form of personal struggles, failures, or unexpected hardships. These moments test resilience and force difficult choices, yet they also spark growth.

The act of facing adversity head-on—whether it’s battling self-doubt, navigating setbacks, or rebuilding after personal loss—becomes the crucible where strength is forged. Each obstacle, though daunting, provides an opportunity to learn more about oneself and to cultivate perseverance, patience, and courage.

At the same time, the journey is not only about enduring hardship but about intentionally choosing self-improvement as the destination. Progress often requires stepping outside of comfort zones, developing new skills, and embracing vulnerability.

Growth comes from setting small, consistent goals and celebrating each milestone along the way. Over time, these incremental victories create momentum, transforming pain into purpose. The journey, then, is not just about overcoming what stands in the way but about discovering a deeper version of oneself—one that is stronger, wiser, and better equipped to walk confidently toward the future.

And so I begin again with the goal of becoming a little bit stronger, a little bit wiser, & a little bit better. I am thankful each time for the opportunity I am afforded 🙏. Pre-Season is in the books
