Just a heads-up — Big Red Flag 🚩
I’ve started to notice a pattern, and I really hope others catch it too. Most (if not all) of these guys say they work on oil rigs or claim to be “independent contractors.” It sounds legit at first, but it’s actually one of the oldest tricks in the book. They use it to explain why they’re far away, can’t meet in person, and — later — why they suddenly need help or money.
Also, look at their photos. A lot of them have a picture with a kid or a dog. It’s not random. That’s emotional bait — it makes them seem caring, responsible, and real. But it’s often just part of the act.
Here are a few more things I’ve seen over and over:
• They say they’re widowed or a single dad
• They get super sweet and romantic way too fast
• They avoid video calls or always have a weird excuse
• They might say they’re stuck or in trouble — and ask for money
• Their grammar or way of writing just feels… off
If any of this sounds familiar, please be careful.
✅ Try doing a reverse image search — a lot of these photos are stolen
✅ Don’t feel bad for cutting contact if something feels wrong
✅ Report the profile if you suspect anything
✅ And most importantly: trust your gut.
These scams are sneaky and emotional. If something feels off, it probably is. Just wanted to share in case it helps someone else avoid getting hurt or tricked. ❤️
