Carthage will host Cardinal Ritter next Saturday. The Lions defeated Ft. Zumwalt North 38-13 today.

It only took one second half score for Carthage to claim a Class 5 quarterfinal victory over Capital City on Saturday afternoon at Capital City High School in Jefferson City.

The Tigers finished this drive with a 66-yard sweep to wide receiver Tate Nichols.

Coming out of the break, Carthage runs a little double play action and then Browning throws the ball over the top of the defense to a wide open Landon Bland for a 34-yard touchdown.

Jon Guidie then went deeper into the playbook as he pulled out a fake on the PAT attempt.

Zane Browning caught the snap and then stood up to deliver a pass to Brayden O’Dell wide open in the end zone for 2 points.

When Scott Quinly started coaching the offensive line at Lamar High School in 2020, he started doing “belly pics.” Or, as he refers to them, “big’uns.”

“ .... After every win, every O-lineman that got to play in the game got to be in the picture after the game,” Quinly said. “Those were great times. I was fortunate to have taken a lot of belly pictures. I had some great kids.”
